Then that fat **** Janakowski kicked a game winning FG like 3 minutes later. That following Tuesday, 9/11 happened. Thanks Janakowski! |

I think where the idea came from is some sources had him as a UDFA DE prospect, but thought he could get drafted as a long snapper. I think they might have even said that on ESPN when he got drafted. Anyway, the train went from there. |

any Dante return always seemed to have Gary out there leading the way.

Why stop at 2002? Who could forget such stalwarts as Ryan Sims, Junior Siavii, Julian Battle, Kawika Mitchell and Kris Wilson

The truth is that the Chiefs have been one of the best drafting franchises in recent history- finding talent especially later the in the draft. We got exceptionally unlucky when we were drafting 1st overall, but at least made the right decision between Fisher and Joeckel. Not to mention when we finally took a quarterback in the first round, we took Mahomes- who arguably is the most valuable player on any franchise right now.
People who complain about the Chiefs drafting have unrealistic expectations. |

Those piss poor drafts are why the team fell apart when Herm took over. Lack of talent and aging players lead to the decline more than Herm's coaching, which didn't help.

I wish we kept Derrick Blaylock for special teams he was great at springing Dante Hall on kickoff returns lead blocking.
Also Scott F U J I T T A went on and won a SB with the Saints. |

Tait, Wesley, Hall, Warfield were all solid. This just shows that we were atrocious in rounds 1, 2, and 3. Pretty pathetic overall.

He was just on a D that literally had zero talent anywhere. So even sub-par players looked decent. Don't forget the FA acquisitions on D during those years. Pat Surtain - although he wasn't bad and the signing made sense at the time, in efforts to try to give DV one more shot at a SB run after a horrible flattening 2004 season, but this signing was a couple yrs too late, and he costed a ton + a 2nd rd pick, which is another example as to why the DV left the cupboard so bare. Draft picks were currency to buy veteran players that he could win w/ right away. Dexter McCleon - One of the worst CB's to ever play professional football. Bill Bartee was another in that group, and lucky for KC...they played on the same team during the same time! Thank god for the agressive KC DL of Sims Browning and Hicks. Oh wait... Kendrell Bell - Most people outside of Chiefs boards probably don't even remember him playing for KC, that's how invisible he was. Sammy Knight - Another signing that was a few yrs too late. He was a good field general, but was slower than dogshit. Vonnie Holliday - Remember that 1st game he had vs the Chargers? I do. I remember watching that game in my dorm room and watching him get 3 sacks. I was thinking maybe KC D would finally be able to show up. Nope. Disappeared for the rest of the time he was in KC. Shawn Barber - The guy had a good season in Philly. Then had a good 1st season w/ KC, then fell off the face of the earth. Hey he was good in Madden during that time.
