If you don't believe that there is going to be an issue, because today as expected the owner don't want to give them more money and of course they don't want more games.
I think a work stoppage is inevitable. Not only do players believe they deserve more points, but I believe the way the owners colluded against Kaepernick has damaged the relationship between owners and players more than anyone realizes.

Even if players were against the protests, his exclusion from an NFL roster reflects the controversial "Plantation" mentality of the owners. I know these are grown men making money for playing a game, but the rich, white team owners are making money by owning grown men who play a game for a living, and were more than happy to punish Kaepernick for being "uppity" and not falling in line with their own world views.

The players put their quality of life on the line every game, and have witnessed how little the league and its owners actually cares about them post football, which is not at all, really. Players get a pension after 4 years in the league, but only because they are in a Union, and not because the league or owners care about them when they can no longer perform.

I think that players watched Nathan Peterman, among other trash QBs, get paid for being very bad at football, while a player with the skills of Kaepernick was blackballed, and watched their rich, white, team owners worry more about sending a message to other players than winning, and it opened up their eyes to the fact that they should stop caring about winning until they have financial security, financial freedom, and a reward that matches their level of risk.

The only way to secure those things is to create leverage via a work stoppage. The MLBPA is the most powerful union in the United States, securing guaranteed contracts, and every other benefit they have, through work stoppages. There have been 5 player strikes, and 3 player driven lockouts in MLB, and once the players even sacrificed a World Series to get what they needed. I think NFL players are finally ready to stand strong and do the same to get what they deserve.
