Spags deserves more credit

I think it was best coaching hire across the nfl last year. Selfishly I hope he doesn’t get another HC job.

The media barely talked about the crazy turnover of players, change of system and how spags nailed it.

When we hired Spags, I was not a fan of his at all. He only had 1 or 2 good defenses and was a friend of Andy Reid. Between Veach getting him quality players and Spags coaching them, in hind sight. it was a fantastic hire. He has done a fabulous job. I'm surprised he wasn't approach for a head coaching job. This is my equivalent to eating crow pertaining to my first post when he was hired.

But I hope you're right. I don't want to see Spags go anywhere for a long while.
Spags turned 60 in December. I’m confident he’ll stay with us for a few reasons:

1. He’s 60. If you aren’t a known elite HC it seems like it’s hard to get a job at that age.
2. This is an offensive league now.
3. League wants young coaches.
4. Spags failed miserably as a HC already

I think we could get lucky and have Andy, Spags and Toub together for the 2020’s

Yeah he’s getting plenty from me, like many great DC’s he’s no HC... but man can that guy masterfully juggle a million variables on defense

First year DC with new scheme
Players already here had to be coached into it
All the many new faces had to be coached into it
Late arrivals were brought up to speed quickly and effectively
Was dealt a shitty hand of multiple serious injuries to very important players at various points in the season

All of that, yet he still had them playing like a cohesive unit by week 8... and like a championship defense just in time for the playoffs

I’m raising a toast to that Glorious Guinea as we speak

I wouldn't be too surprised to see a team hire Spags as a HC again. Look at Wade Phillips. He was never successful as a head coach, but that didn't stop Jerry Jones from giving him a 3rd shot as a head coach. But, if he goes, I feel confident that House or Daly will do a good job in his place.

This defense will jump out of the gate much better than last year. They have some great players, awesome coaching and Championship confidence.

We might be watching a top 10 D this year.
