WR is not really a spot that I want to get older at. I think that's counter productive.

I'm interested in the guys that are 25 or 26.

He’s been a consistent 1,000 yard caliber receiver for years and got hurt recently.

Guys we aren’t asking this guy to be a #1 WR. He’s at his best in the middle of the field, which is exactly what we need.

Kelce, Hill, Landry, contract year Hardman and an early rookie WR is damn good

Give Pringle the same 100 targets you’d need to give Landry to get to 65 catches and 700 yards and he’d destroy those numbers.

Landry doesn’t bring anything to the table as a 3rd option in this offense and would actually take things off the table by getting looks that exponentially more efficient players would otherwise get.

He was a target hound in his Miami days.

There's better options, imo.

Lookit, like.. the guy gets open. So there's that. He racks up a lot of catches and not a lot of yards.

That tells you he's not and has never been explosive.

He's 29. There's no upside there.

I just don't see it; unless The Chiefs just feel that Pringle and Drob are totally shitty route runners and that's the problem. Because athletically, I don't see how Landry is a significant upgrade. Production-wise, yes he has a ton of catches, but the YPC is pretty pedestrian. It's just a ton of targets is all.

I assumed he was a free agent seeing this. I wouldn’t offer much, at all in trade. Would be more interested if he gets cut.

Pringle had 568 yards last season on 61 targets.

It took Landry 87 for IDENTICAL production. Damn near a full 50% more.

Our third receiving option has to be hyper efficient to justify taking passes away from Hill and Kelce. If you can’t get me 9 yards/target or at least 8.5 on a 68% catch rate, I have no use for you in this offense.

Landry does nothing for this team.

I’d argue he does exactly what we need. We aren’t going bombs away anywhere near as much anymore with defenses going to cover 2 and cover 3. They’re sending extra guys to defend back there.

But that’s leaving the middle and intermediate level open for good route runners to exploit. That’s what Landry does well.

I don’t care how we do it. 5 yard passes. 7 yard passes. Teams are begging us Patrick to be Alex Smith and now he needs to be to get these teams out of that cover 2/3. If teams have 3 safeties back defending the deep ball you kill then in the shallow to intermediate area of the field until you force them to get out of it.

We need a savvy route runner who wins in the middle of the field…not a deep burner.

Get a decent pass catcher out of the backfield and call it a day. If Jet McKinnon could be trusted to hold up for a full season, he'd be perfect.

Otherwise, I easily see Landry coming here not nearly cheap enough. If he gets cut, he's probably going to expect something just under what he got with the Browns, which is way too goddamn much. And **** trading for this asshat.

When McKinnon works they'll just stop using him.

Paying $500 million to your quarterback to run Alex Smiths offense is absurd.

You beat cover two by threatening it. Landry doesn’t threaten a thing. But put someone at the X that can get into the deep corners and you’ll pull teams out of it. Put RBs on the field that can threaten to get the corner and turn it into twenty yards and you pull them out of it. Run drag routes from guys that can outrun their DB and turn upfield after the catch and you’ll pull them out of it.

This idea that the only way to play against Cover 2 is to play the slice and turn your generational quarterback into a game manager is silly.

Again - if Cover 2 was some sort of panacea, it would be all anyone ever runs. It isn’t. Because it CAN be beaten. Fairly easily in fact. And by the end of the season even into the Cincy game we were beating it easily. The answer isn’t to put someone out there who’s too slow to challenge deep safeties and just encourages them to stay back.

It’s to get more dynamic threats out there that put them at risk in more places on the field.

Jarvis Landry is the opposite of that. It’s the lazy way to do it and it significantly diminishes our offensive ceiling.

If you don’t understand the skill set Jarvis Landry brings, I can’t help you. He’d dominate with Mahomes at QB.

Stats don’t tell his story. He’s perfect for this offense. He would be massive for this team.

Other options are there, not saying he’s a must have. But he’d thrive here.
