Just haven't been playing very well recently

I'm not very good at making detailed assessments of the teams flaws. Others are better at that, and I'm sure they'll be doing so over the next few days here.

My concern is we just look very flat going into the playoffs, which isn't really the norm for the Chiefs in recent years. Reid and the coaching staff seem to "figure it out" midway or late into the season, and our team starts looking solid and cohesive going into the playoffs. This year just doesn't have that feeling. Very bad football teams are making us look bad and work for these wins, and we look very flawed and average.

We're 13-3, but we really don't feel like it. And we've seen this kind of team before around the league. The one with the impressive looking W-L record, but gets it's teeth knocked out in the first round by a team that has a better gameplan and just wants it more. I don't want that to be us, but it's hard to think otherwise when we come out and play like we have. Dunno what else to say.

Even if that’s true, they still have the fumble problem on kick returns and punt returns. 5 lost fumbles in the return game this season. I would be curious to know where that ranks in the league.

The fact that we're 13-3 and currently in the lead for HFA is incredible. This team is near the bottom of the league in turnover differential, yet are still the AFC road to the SB. Says A LOT about how good this team is and can be. If they were to play a clean game, where they have no turnovers or missed kicks, and don't have shithead refs (looking at you, Cheffers, you ****ing slag), they are virtually unbeatable.

That's why games like today are frustrating. We know they are so freaking good the game should be no.contest. When it is, and it is due to our mistakes more than our opponent's abilities, it drives up our BP. We still win tho

The thing I'm seeing this year is the defense has actually saved 2-3 games that the Chiefs outright should have lost or would have lost in past years. Let the Raiders get the adrenaline rush from their changes this week against the 49'ers and 14-3 is likely and NE has a reason to play Buffalo now as well, not just relying on the Bengals this week.

Regardless of what the NFL talking heads say, the Chiefs are looked at as the King of the Mountain and will always get the best effort from the teams they play. The league has been trying to figure out Mahomes for the past five years and the Chiefs are still the top dog.

Give this team just a couple of top players; one for the DL and one for the WR and the Chiefs would be unstoppable. They pretty much are now; the NFL has a lot of parity, just sit back and forget about real life for a few hours and enjoy this as entertainment.

They're probably a little complacent right now with the back end of this schedule being easy. I kinda had a feeling we would win ugly against the likes of Houston and Denver. All that matters in the end is getting the win and escaping any injuries to our key guys. Hopefully Thuney is going to be ok.

I don't know how you wouldn't be concerned. Pathetic performance today. You are playing the worst team in the league in your own building. Got bailed out on a bogus offensive pi on Jerry Juedy (or Sutton I forget) eliminating a big play too. This team just doesn't have it.

Style points don't matter.

All that matters is we hit another gear when the playoffs start.

And when you are one of the best teams in the in the league you are constantly going to get the the team’s best shot. And in the case of Denver in particular, today makes 15 straight times they have lost to the Chiefs, and in the midst of a season that they actually high expectations for and we’re falling short of from the start of the season. At some point that wounded and cornered animal is going to become very dangerous.

Are there issues we need to address? Obviously (special teams especially). But I’m just not that worried about looking a little flat and sloppy at times. They’ll likely be amped up and executing at a higher level when the games actually mean something.
Not sure about that. Hard to turn it on like that with issues on multiple fronts. Any one of which is big enough to end things.

We had a ten point lead in the fourth quarter and possession of the football and get a three and out without taking much time off the clock because we insisted on those dumbass pass plays that we couldn’t complete. Denver gets the ball and gets a touchdown on their next possession. We gave their offense chance after chance and it’s infuriating!

Also could not close out the Texans in regulation and got stopped in OT. Do that kind of stuff against good teams, and its a loss. (See Bengals game) One and done if they dont get it together for the playoffs.

I think we have some issues. But Reid will work around it. And even with our issues we’re still damn good enough to make a run. Our worst is still on par with even the best of the bests best.

I don’t want to sugarcoat anything. I am just content with not being fully there yet. We are in a tremendous spot to get better, I suspect a lot of our top competition will get worse rapidly once their top players get paid. I’m just happy we’re really coming along. A Super Bowl is just gravy. We are set up for years of success.

On the bright side… I think Toney will be our gadget to mix things up. And our defense is starting to come alive as it usually does this time of year. I have a feeling it’s going to be a year we’re not used to where the defense has to carry way more weight and we win playoff games more uncomfortably.

They remind me of perennial contender NBA teams. The regular season is what it is. Work out some things and try to stay healthy.

Playoffs come and they’ll buckle down. Coach seems to preach the same mentality that you see in baseball. Did a player **** up on defense? Gotta forget it and move on. The players know what they need to do.
