Probably even worse attendance back then than the Royals these days to give away a giant block of semi-decent seats like that.
I remember going to an early season game and my sister and I were able to run down aisles and rows and climb over rows and rows of empty seats at a Chiefs game.

Then we would go to a Royals game and it was packed.

This was in the mid 80s.

The accommodations for youth soccer is top-notch, with a huge one in OP and new ones in NKC and Lee's Summit. The response to exhibition and cup games has been great, and the organizers that got the World Cup was obviously very impressive.

Depends on the time of year. We do a lot of stuff outside, even when it's cold. Walking, bike rides, playing sports (kids have their leagues, I have mine), going out to eat, Top Golf, bowling, movies, casino nights, playing games, social gatherings with friends, swimming, going to sporting events (does that count or does it get thrown out as "ground zero" for this topic?), etc.

Look, no doubt there is more to do outside and maybe even inside (in terms of options) year round in the Californias of the world but I just don't think that makes as much of a difference as it gets credit for. How many Chiefs fans do you know that would skip the game on Sundays if there were a beach in KC? Not many, in my opinion, especially since they could go to the beach or fly a kite or whatever people do in California, the other 6 days a week or the other 35 Sundays. If the Chiefs sucked, maybe that would be a different discussion, but as some have alluded to on this thread, there were many days in the 80's and such where you could hardly give away Chiefs tickets and the weather and entertainment options back then were the same (basically) as they are now. KC is a good sports town because it is full of passionate fans who support their teams and will come out in droves when they have reason to do so. When the teams go through long periods of suckage, there is certainly enough to do here for people to not say "Well, the Royals suck but I live in KC and have no other options so I guess I'll shell out cash to sit there for 3 hours so I can say I did something". That's all

Yeah, I think it's mostly a combination of teams that are terrible for long stretches, transplants or relocated teams that cause sports to be less prioritized, the number of days you want to be outside doing things besides watching shitty teams you never rooted for as a kid, and cities that tend to be more localized due to traffic issues (like LA or all of Florida).

It's not like you get off the plane in LA or somewhere in Florida and experience a thousand new things you've never experienced in your life.

Other than surfing and staring at an ocean I have yet to find out what there is to do in other large cities that there isn't in Kansas City.

If you can't find things to do in Kansas City that says more about you than it does KC.

You guys should try to pull the Blues from STL, that place is a shithole. I have family in STL-STC and haven’t visited there in 20 years due to it being such a shithole. I’m buying a puppy from a breeder in IL not far from there and I’m debating not visiting because of my dislike of that area. For reference, I live near DC (shithole) and Baltimore (one of the shittiest holes in America) and still hold them in higher regard than STL, MO.
