That being said, you think homeschooled kids are worse off? I’ve known a few homeschooled people/friends and they are very successful career wise but do/have lacked the ability to understand the fundamentals of things you learn as a kid growing up in the public school system. I really don’t know why though you have a rag falling out of your pants over me asking chiefsplanet on the options I have to prevent my kid from having to switch schools, if I can. You seem like a dick of a father if you wouldn’t at least try on your kids behalf/request to keep him in his desired school. Maybe you’re the type to just follow what the big guy tells you what you have to do regarding your kids education, but understanding how big of a penis you have along with your bad ass personality, you would never allow someone to dictate to you how you and yours live your life |

This sounds like a general comment/philosophy and as such, this is a terrible philosophy for raising kids.
Regarding the school, a few things. First, practically speaking, how far is the school now? Will the other kids in the neighborhood be in the same position? If so, friends from his school nearby your house is a good thing. Regardless if other kids in your neighborhood will get moved or not, it won’t be bad for your kid to go to a school with kids from the neighborhood. Secondly, it sounds like a certainty you are making the anxiety your kid has with school much worst than it needs to be. You are communicating to him that changing schools is such a stressful and scary thing that you will do something as dramatic as taking him out of school before making him go back to one. What’s he supposed to think other than going to a new school might just be the worst thing ever? Seems pretty clear that his response will be excessive anxiety and stress about school. |

Kids are resilient, something you obviously weren't exposed to Instead of discouraging him, maybe frame it as an opportunity, you know, like most people do when facing one of many challenges in their life |

The second portion, I again agree, it can be viewed as if I’m adding to the stress. Unfortunately my lovely wife is the one who brought it up, and I played damage control, I only came here to ask questions/advice on what can/could be done. If I had it my way, this possible “option” or “change” would not have been mentioned until summer with lots of discussion, research being done prior, but my wife.. :/ |

I can't say I've met a successful person who was homeschooled as most believe the Earth is 6,000 years old.

Lmao, I don’t know what weird issues you have that are regarding your childhood but I legit think you need help. Changing schools for my son isn’t something new for me or my child. My PREFERENCE and read that a second time, my PREFERENCE would be to avoid him changing schools all together which is what this thread is about. If he has to change schools, I will motivate, encourage, and advise my kid of the “positives” of why this can/will be a good thing.

If the school district re-draws the boundary lines, have you considered moving to a house located within the boundary of his old school?

Kids are pretty honest, and also pretty damn resilient. Get his opinion, and give him some credit.
He's already made it through the different schools, so one more isn't a giant leap, especially if he knows this is where he will stay, and allow him to build friendships. As young parents we tend to overreact when all are trying to do is "not screw it up". Try not to overthink it too much, and let mama handle the kids and school. |

Yes it is a first world problem, I don’t live in some random country in Africa or Asia, that’s why I’m here, with internet, asking a question. You’re a weird ass mother ****er as I stated prior lmao. And yes, you do have issues, I’m here waiting for genuine responses, you’re here crying and moping over a question a father is asking about the options they have to keep their kid in their current school. Something in this thread triggered you, may have been the OP, just know you can get therapy for that shit, you weird ass mother ****er lol. |

It has more to do with the fact that you want to make your kids life as easy as possible, removing every ones of life’s obstacles, difficulties, etc.. helicopter and bulldozer parenting while at first sounds like you doing what’s best for them isn’t always the case . Now every situation/kid will be different and there is t really one size fits all and it depends and what you want for your kid . Just from experience with my kids I wish I would have done a few things differently, my wife and I have different philosophies and I think it turned out pretty good overall but she still is having a hard time cutting the cord which I think is stunnting their growth as adults.

Again, what does not wanting my kid to have to go to a new school for the 4th time in 5 years have to do with me somehow managing to try to make his life as easy as possible. If I wanted to make his life as easy as possible, I wouldn’t have forced him and again, FORCED him to change schools the last 3 times to better our lives and my work environment. I still force all the normal qualities, attributes, that my own dad instilled onto me such as I was never allowed to quit a sports team upon joining it (first thing comes to mind). There’s many others where I instill a tough it up you little shit. That being said, what the **** is the issue with trying to keep my kid in his current school lmao. I understand you and forsure United want to say **** it and bow down to the local community council, but I say **** that. What are my options. I think you’re trying to take the question and steer it into some bigger theory/conspiracy which isn’t even a thing, it’s just a simple question of “what are my options to keep my kid in his current school”. Anything deeper than that seems like some self reflection of the poster tbh. |
