A Level Headed Review Week 6 2023

1. Chamari Connor - Great open field tackle on 2nd and 1 to force 3rd and 2. Should have been a punt but Bolton was knocked down by the TE and Sneed couldn't get wrapped up as Bolton was on his feet.

2. Justin Reid - great play to sack Wilson on 4th and 3 turning the ball over and then getting the pick on the batted ball. Great player and happy he came here over Tyrann "Business Decisions" Mathieu.

3. Pacheco - once again making the Chiefs look like a competent running team. 3 Carries for 15 yards on the first drive. Every week he gets better and better catch and running. 9 carries for 47 yards in the first half (5.2 YPC). I think one aspect of Pacheco's game that could be improved is that he needs to stick his foot in the ground and turn upfield - I feel like he tries to race the defender to the edge when there is no chance of making it - he just needs to make that stick and go upfield and get 2,3,4 yards. Perfect example of that was the 1st down run in the 4th Q where he lost a yard trying to beat the safety to the corner.

4. Nick Bolton - what an interception. Way to find the route and sit underneath.

5. Patrick - INT ball seemed a bit under thrown - that pocket had really collapsed around him when he threw that ball. Not sure if his arm was clipped on that throw or not, I missed the replay. But I think he waited a wee too long on that play for someone to come open. He didn't even seen the blitzer until the last second on the sack before the 2 min warning. Called the blitz (watch cover 0) but didn't get rid of the ball quickly - cost the Chiefs field position - but Butker comes thru with another booming kick to put us back up 2 scores. On second look of that Jawaan missed that assignment and should have taken the inside guy instead of the outside rusher.

6. Malik Herring - really blew up that 3rd down play by beating the OLineman to the gap and blowing up the running lane for Burton allowing Sneed to help clean up the play.

7. Kelce - Continues to be Kelce. He is Patrick's Binky - guy just knows how to be THE open receiver on the field. (7 Rec for 109 Yards at half) but only two more catches in the second half.

8. Amazon - way to miss the 4th down fake FG play to look at some random coach on the Broncos sideline. I swear we got 2 yards on that Tush Push play but they never showed where the ball ended up at.

9. Montrell Washington - first drop on a punt, willing to give him a pass on this one - he was retreating hard (not drifting back) to catch the ball, that has to be pretty hard. Based upon his prior performance I believe this is more an anomaly than a problem. Exciting 4th Q run back makes up for the miscue earlier even though it was wiped out by a (bogus) penalty.

10 Kadarius Toney - Great to see him get into the end zone. Great rub route by MVS to get him open in the flat. Toney can throw the ball (was a pretty spiral with plenty of distance) too just lucky it wasn't picked throwing into double coverage.

11. Butker - Has continued to be money and that 60 yard field goal would have been good from 70. Incredible leg on that guy - never mind the wind was swirling. We are fortunate to have such a reliable kicker. 52 yarder to seal the deal.

12. Moore - A Moore sighting with a 10 yard reception and a first down....and then disappears again until the last drive with a nice first down catch. I wish I could complain more about this but if all he does is catch first downs when we really need them...he is doing better than MVS

13. Rice - great catch and run on the slant route for a 23 yard gain. Great almost first down on 3rd and 17 - never would have guessed we could have gotten to a 4th and 1 on a WR screen to Rice in that situation. 28 yard reception on 3rd and 2 was just absolutely money. MOAR.

14. Red Zone Offense - a little concerning we seem to be having problems with punching it in the End Zone when in goal to go situations. We seem to move the ball up and down the field well but Red Zone offense is a struggle - need to figure that out. Broncos defense came to play though - I'm sure some of that is due to them fighting for their pride.

15. Jaylen Watson - that PI was horrible, he lost the ball in the air and grabbed Sutton's arm. Great 4th Q play to bat the ball away from the receiver on a go route down the sideline. True form for a CB forget about the last play and go out and make a play on the next one.

16. Trick plays - We just don't seem to be able make the trick plays happen this year. Toney should have handed that ball to Pacheco and they would have had a 1st down. Sometimes being cute too much is - well too much. Just stick with the basics for now. Once we figure out the basics we can bring the cute stuff back.

17. Defense - the Defense has been really good tonight with getting their bear paws in the passing lanes and batting down 4 passes. Getting pressure on Wilson and generally holding the Broncos offense to ineffective until the penalty fest of the last drive. Can't really say enough about the Defense and creating turnovers - a few penalties that need to be cleaned up but for the most part played a really good game - do I dare say our Defense is outplaying our Offense at this point?

18. J Watson - didn't see what the injury was but by the way he was shaking his leg while laying on the ground he was in a tremendous amount of pain. (elbow injury).

19. MVS - has just flat out disappeared (except for a critical crack back block penalty) - no Justyn Ross appearance either.

20. Roughing the Passer - They need to change the rule back to a one step rule - if the defender is within one step of the QB before the ball is released there is no roughing. IDK how Edwards could have not landed on top of the QB if that was any factor in the call - reminiscent of the Chris Jones sack and strip of Carr last year - just asinine interpretation of the rule.

Now that teams know Toney is a threat to throw it will open up stuff.

They have to honor downfield routes if there's a trick play.

How is 400 yards not competent?

No, they should work on the trick stuff. It will manufacture the big plays we are missing.

I know Andy doesn’t like letting rookie WR’s start or get a lot of snaps but maybe he needs to rethink that strategy this year. Not saying I’m smarter than Reid. He’s a HOF coach. I’m just a fan. But, anyway…..

Starting line up at WR should be MVS, Rice and Toney. Rice can be a game breaker with his speed. He’s getting open all the time.

Quit doing the gadget plays with Toney. Stop the jet sweeps, it hasn’t worked one time this year. Toney has been pretty good as a WR this year.

Ross should be getting more snaps and more targets. Look at the All-22. Every game he is open for a TD. He’s consistently getting open a lot. Here’s an easy touchdown when Mahomes is looking right at him.

There is no reason not to bring back Hardman.

He can do gadget shit better than Toney, and frees Toney up to be a real WR.

And Hardman can pull in the odd deep ball. He always had fairly decent deep chemistry with Mahomes. It was shorter routes he never was any good at.

I actually don't have a problem with taking Mahomes out for QB sneaks, but we have to stop turning it into these dumbass trick plays. Just line it up and tush push like a normal team.

JUST LAST SEASON, Eagles won:

24-7
24-8
20-17
17-16
25-20

This season, they have 3 such games scoring 25 or fewer points.

The 49ers:

24-9
22-16
13-0
21-13
19-12

And don't get me started on Bills

It's fine for KC to win games this way.

The only thing that matters is winning.

Outside of Kelce, Rice was the biggest bright spot on the offense.

Defense what can you say they were just OUTSTANDING. Spaggs has done a hell of a job with this group

Playcalling was crappy at times. I am ok with going for it on 4th and 2 but you have the MVP at QB put the ball in his hands. Even when he is not having the best of games it's always a better option than putting it in a back up TE's hands.

We really have to stop being so afraid to run a sneak with Mahomes. It has been 4 years now. Lots of teams have run sneaks and been fine. Yes he got hurt on that 1 time but that is a very rare event. Stop being so freaking wimpy about it. If you don't want Mahomes to run a sneak than run a normal play this trick BS doesn't work often and isn't going to suddenly start working.

10 days until the next game. We now have a mini bye week after this short week I am willing to bet that the offense will look a lot better next week.

A few things.

I think MVS running opens up the shit underneath that we're wrecking shit with. It'll be interesting if they pull coverage down.

LOL @ Donko killing Kelce. He has a bum ankle. And he embarrassed these twats. Roll coverage with Surtain and double team him. Nah. I'll take a first. Kelce at 34 is better than 26. That's ****ing incredible. I don't even.....

**** these dirty ****ing twats. 47 was trying to headhunt Kelce early. Luckily Kelce saw it coming and got down and the dude totally whiffed. Refs should have taken notice. NOPE. Pacheco gets tackled by his helmet. Refs should have called it. NOPE. Pacheco gets jacked the **** out of bounds - looked late. Refs call anything? Even if it's a makeup call? NOPE. And who here is shocked that Donko bitch **** is trying to gator roll with Kelces hurt ankle? NOPE. **** off bitches. **** off Hochuli. Your dad was a **** and you are too. Like my ****ing ass. Plus, WE WERE AT HOME. **** I hate dirty shit. Hit hard sure, but **** off with headhunting.

Offense played like nutsack and we covered a double digit spread. **** Donk Forever.

That interception was unnecessary

Throw it away, take the sack, whatever. We can’t afford to have him force balls up there.

Extremely happy with the win otherwise.

His arm got hit.

The replays were ass. Real time, I thought a dude had his leg. He needs to get the ball on the dirt. Even if its grounding it's still makeable FG.

But his arm got hit, and he's done some otherworldly shit, so I'm certainly open to the idea that he may have made something happen if his arm was clean.
