Off-season WR possibilities

Seeing a lot of teams with sub .500 records with WRs that need to get with Mahomes.

Who is available and who would you like to see us pursue to go with Rice and Watson.

They aren't going to let him go.

Unfortunately Mooney probably checks a lot of boxes. It just feels like we’re just doing Reid tree things with this.

My super-short list:

Darnell Mooney (27)
Curtis Samuel (28)

both will know a good chunk of the offensive scheme.

My short-list additions:
Marquise Brown (27)
Gabriel Davis (25)
K.J. Osborn (27)
Donovan Peoples-Jones (25)
Quez Watkins (26)
Laviska Shenault (26)

I don't see Veach signing Evans at 31, Ridley at 30, or Higgins or Pittman for the big-money deals they'll likely command. Could be wrong, but it's not his norm.

I like the first two.

Don't see Gabe Davis being a great idea as he is basically a slightly better MVS.

Donovan Peoples-Jones or Watkins would ok if price was right but just limited vert guys.

Second list isn’t ideal. Gabe Davis and dpj are the same mistake prone inconsistent guys we want to get rid of, and Hollywood feels like just a better version of inconsistent Mvs. All these guys are tough sells but could be an ok sell if we make an aggressive move in the draft.

None of it is ideal, but that's kind of the nature of free agency. I think everyone will come away severely disappointed if they are banking on free agency to solve all of our woes. I'll be happy if we can at least get a consistent slot WR. I think those are there. I doubt that we are getting a stud to line up across from Rice unless Veach wows us with an out-of-character play. I think he'll try to get that #2 guy in the draft, which he should.

I'll be thrilled if we can get Mooney or Samuel and add a guy like Troy Franklin in the draft. If we can also get another decent FA like Peoples-Jones to help the rookie curve, great.

I like Mooney and Samuel as targets. Both would look better in KC than their current teams.

I don’t think mahomes or the fans will let veach sleep if they sell in half rated prospects. Guys like dpj and have Davis are the same inconsistent guys we have, and Samuel feels like just a better utility guy. I feel like their focus will be on consistency. I tend to think Mooney is the move because he won’t break the bank and it sends the message that they’re serious. I also wouldn’t rule out a lot of movement in the free agent market as a lot of teams’ cap realities become very real.

Ultimately I think the move is a Mooney like FA and aggressive move in the draft. The alt being an aggressive move in free agency and semi aggressive in the draft.

Hard to say what happens bc guys usually come available when teams do cut downs (CC Amari Cooper).

I think we can all agree Richie James ain't coming back. He publicly said he wanted to be cut.

Mooney would be a decent replacement for him. I also really like KJ Osborn to be that guy we thought Skyy would be. He's about the same size with good speed and can block. 3 years as a starter and will have 600 yards every year despite Cousins being hurt.

Only 9 drops in 236 targets over his 3 years as a starter.
