Do you have a good reason to bump that thread?

Lately, we've had a few users who think bumping threads from years ago is fun for them. It's nothing new necessarily but the mod team has had more and more complaints on the matter. At least 2 people have been banned over it. So we wanted to make an announcement. If you are browsing the archives and decide to bump an old thread to the front page you should have a very compelling reason and state it in your bump post. Otherwise, you may risk a vacation. This rule applies in the lounge area at this time only. It doesn't seem to be a problem in subforums.

To me, there are three types of bumps:
  1. Bumping a thread on a related topic to post additional information. In general, I dislike these because I wish people would just post a new thread, but many seem hesitant to start threads these days.
  2. Bumping an old thread because it's interesting to look back at opinions from years ago. These are usually in good fun and are interesting for the most part.
  3. Bumping dozens of threads all at once to flood the front page with outdated bullshit. These are completely obnoxious and will likely get you banned.

I can't really say what the situation was at the time this thread was created. Phobia certainly had strong opinions about some things. I'm guessing it was some combination of #2 and #3.
Cool. Thx.
