Who the hell fires their GM in the middle of the season? The coach, yes.
The Browns got a new owner, Jimmy Haslem.

Within a few weeks, they were openly vetting out General Managers. Soon after that, Holmgren announced his retirement and Joe Banner has essentially taken responsibility for the team as a "consultant."

It's not like this is unusual. Let's also not forget that we saw the writing on the wall for Carl well before the season ended.

Holmgren was team president, not GM. He didn't retire, he was told he was out at the end of the year. Banner is a minority owner and will be the club president.

None of this is unexpected and was pretty much set it motion before the season even began.

It was amazing the homerism around this place. Chiefs fans were all duped.

Including the great McCloud. 12 wins? A playoff win? Trent Green 2.0?

Sad.
You're smoking crack AND you're taking my comments out of context.

Yep.

Holmgren was fired 'nicely'.

Not really dude.

You thought this was a good football team, and you thought it all offseason.

Homer Dane, never thought I'd see the day.

**** man, you believed in Romeo Crennel? Why?

Being optimistic before the season began didn't mean we were homers.

Thinking we could come back and take the divison at this point? Definitely.

I thought this team was good enough to overcome Cassel's suck.

I thought Crennel learned from his experience in Cleveland.

Obviously not.

I've learned that suck is infectious and there is no hiding it.

Again, unless you were stalking me, how in the Hell could you possibly know what I thought, let alone what was happening in my life, before July 2012?

Trust me, I wasn't following the Chiefs until I began posting again. I didn't even watch the NFL Draft.

Your definition of "homer" needs adjustment.

Believed is a stretch. I thought Romeo did well last year after taking over a team in turmoil, if not outright devastation.

Once again, I had far too many things in my personal life happening to pay much attention to the 2011 Chiefs. I had the Ticket and had the games on but didn't pay much attention.

It just wasn't a priority.

You thought this was a good team. IN JULY.

That implies you evaluated the roster and coaching staff during the offseason. Duh.

12-4?

Playoff win?

Trent Green 2.0?

Before the Chiefs had even taken a snap?

Dane, come on.

That's about the MOST homer ANYONE here went.

Own it.

Bullshit.

The Trent Green comment came during a preseason game, as I noticed that behind an offensive line that gave Cassel major protection and time, that it was *maybe* he could be like Green: Good behind a GREAT offensive line, awful behind an awful line (see 2001, 2006, 2007 in Miami).

Yes, I said this team had the potential to win 12 games. Why not? They won 7 games last year without Berry, Moeaki, Charles or Winston, who was supposed to be an upgrade over Richardson (but isn't).

Furthermore, Baldwin was supposed to be better due to a full training camp, Daboll was supposed to be better than "The Sleeper" and Romeo won 2 out of 3 to finish the season.

What's not to like?

Do I REALLY need to dig up all of the preseason predictions? People across the board thought the Chiefs would be a playoff team and division winner. Hell, there were guys that predicted Romeo as coach of the Year!

So stop the shit. I wasn't the only one that entered the preseason with optimism, which QUICKLY dissolved after the second preseason game.

You're being intellectually dishonest but with all the shit you've pulled in the past nine years on this site, I suppose that's the least of your offenses.

I didn't "evaluate" shit.

I'm not going into detail on Chiefsplanet but suffice to say, I've been more than preoccupied with LIFE to the point where the Chiefs weren't even an afterthought.

They were non-existent.

I definately thought they would be better. Dane summed it up nicely. The only major media guy that thought we would suck was Pete Prisco.

In the end it was the Auckland beyond everyones expectations. No one thought we would be this bad.

Dane, I get that. We all make wrong predictions. I think the part that strikes me is that you've been sniping me on multiple threads because I was optimistic about Pioli in the beginning. I've owned up to that and have been a consistent critic for a pretty long time now. Just as you were an optimist of Romeo, but so were many others.

The point is, we're all at a place now where we all agree that everything is off.
Which is why I'm always taken aback when people get singled out for something they said a long time ago.

So you just came on the board and pulled 12-4 out of your ass, with no thought to the draft, free agency or coaching hires.

Sure, Dane. Sure.

So embarrassed by being a homer all this time, huh?
