Peacock exclusive playoff game is stupid

Bad move by the league. Quit being greedy and keeping your customers from watching your product.

Surely they wont put Mahomes in that game but who knows.

Xfinity told me that they're giving me a free Peacock Premium subscription as part of my internet service. I signed up for it last weekend, but Xfinity is a bunch of liars. It was a "free Peacock account" that is basically advertising and there's no way to cancel it, so I suspect it won't be "free" for long. Xfinity is the worst company on the planet, even worse than the NFL.

I ran some really rough numbers, and it's kind of interesting. The $6 fee, if everyone cancels immediately and there's average advertising, will likely be a money loser for them. Not far from breakeven, but a moneyloser.

The enormous profits will come from the people who stick with the plan for a year. That's where all of the profit is, and if they can get 10 percent of people to not cancel for a year, the profit is enormous.

So I totally understand that for most of you, this would neither be understandable nor possible...

But I just checked my upcoming recordings and the game apparently will be rebroadcast at midnight Pacific time on NFL network.

So all I have to do is turn off my phone and play Divinity Original Sin for eight hours by myself.

And then I can watch the game without spoilers, without Peacock, and no illegal streams...

Old man no longer has to yell at clouds...

Before I dumped Dish, I called about something and the person wanted me to add "Scapes" to my account, which I think it just dumb screensaver stuff.... I asked them like 3 different ways if it was free and if it would ever cost me anything,... totally free!

Of course, a few weeks later there's a $5 charge for it... not even a free trial, but on the very next bill.

Couldn't believe a company like that is scamming people out of five ****ing dollars and maybe even hoping autopay is taking care of a new source of monthly income.

I dumped their ass and a week later they dumped ESPN and pissed off a lot of people for a weekend, just lending to the notion that even if you WANT to pay for this stuff, you may not even get it.

That's great, if you have the discipline to pull it off. Since I dumped Sunday Ticket this year, I missed seeing several games live. But I could never resist the urge to periodically check the score.

You and your buddies aren't the target market anymore. Younger people, by and large, don't pay for cable and don't care enough to deal with an antenna. They stream everything, often on their phones or tablets. That's who this is for.
My friends are in their 30s and 40s, as am I, and half of us have cut the cord. We have multiple subscriptions already. I have YouTube tv, Hulu, prime, Apple TV and nba tv which I got on promo from DraftKings. They aren’t watching not because they can’t or don’t know how to stream. They’re not watching because they don’t want to opt in for a service just to watch 1 game for a team they don’t follow. It doesn’t matter that the game will be entertaining. Be honest… would you subscribe to a totally new app for $6 to watch Steelers bills? I wouldn’t. And I love playoff football

Cant speak for the younger generations but im assuming most of them, in addition to swifties who are younger, are not sitting at home watching streaming tv on a Saturday night.

Streaming is the future. But we aren’t there yet and this is like launching the new iPhone when the infrastructure and half the fans aren’t ready for it yet

I wouldn't watch if it wasn't the Chiefs as would many many others, so yeah that's exactly what they did.

To top things off, Peacock content is pure garbage.

Yeah, and if I do manage to not see the score, I tend to get really impatient watching the game later and knowing I could just skip large chunks of it.

Chiefs are down 7 and just punted... yeah, not the end of the world, but why not just skip forward several plays to see if they get a stop or big play. Chiefs are up 14 with the ball, why not skip forward to see if the other team gets back in the game...

And then add to it no GDT or texting people, and probably watching first thing in the morning... it's more or less a back up solution.

If cost and the principle of paying to watch a playoff game is your only reason to not get Peacock… you are basically bypassing the chance to watch a Chiefs playoff game just to avoid the cost equivalent of buying a value meal at McDonald’s, a movie ticket, a beverage from Starbucks, etc.

There are other reasons that I can understand… but if it comes down just to the principle of not paying $5.99… and then canceling after the game… doesn’t seem worth fighting to miss watching a Mahomes playoff game.
