****OFFICIAL Chiefs @ Bills AFC Divisional Playoff Game Day Thread****

We've killed a hell of a lot of teams to get to this point, and this week we have one more.

The blue one.

The one we're driving to right now.

The only one left in New York.

And when we arrive at our destination,

WE ARE GONNA KILL BILLS!!!

This game was a good example of why losing begets losing and winning gives you a mystique that begets winning. Thirteen seconds was huge in the Bills' minds at the end of the game. They were trying to bleed 100% of the clock this time. They dinked and dunked where they probably should have just turned Josh loose.

I was happy when we hit the two minute warning, because now one missed FG by a kicker who had looked shaky all night wins the game for the Chiefs. If the Bills pushed it harder, earlier, they could have missed and still had enough time to overcome that.

They played themselves into a spot where even if they make the FG, they probably still lose. I think they'd have been better off going for it on 4th and 9. Dan Campbell is the only coach who might have actually done that. But if they had 3 minutes left, maybe they do go for it knowing they still have a chance at a stop. Probably not. It needed to be 4th and 5 or less.

Anyway, if 13 seconds never happens, the end of last night's game plays out differently. Which as we know from all our pre-Mahomes Chiefs fandom, shows how hard it is to break that cycle of losing.

I dunno about that. They tried the deep ball to Diggs in that drive and Diggs dropped it. Later in the drive, Diggs was wide open in short range for an easy first down. Josh held the ball too long, ended up with Chris Jones disrupting the play, and the throw into the end zone came up short as a busted play for Buffalo.

If Josh throws that little dink & dunk ball to Diggs, they pick up the first down and keep the clock running. Josh got too greedy in this situation and went for the kill shot in the end zone 20-30 yards downfield. Even if he was able to hit the touchdown pass on that play, he was gonna leave a huge amount of time on the clock for Mahomes to respond.

Perhaps the deep ball drop by Diggs earlier in the drive contributed to Josh ignoring him on that Red Zone play. Diggs was about as wide open as you can ask a guy to be. High chance of completing a 5-8 yard throw and plenty of YAC on it. Great chance to keep the clock rolling with a 1st down in excellent field position.

But they also ran it a lot on that last series for no other purpose than to bleed clock. We had been mostly stuffing their running game since halftime.

I think once it got to the 2 minute warning they decided **** it let's score if we get the opportunity. But earlier in the drive (except for the one bomb yeah) they were really playing it to bleed clock, which actually turned out hurting them because it gave them one do or die scoring change.

Anyway just saying that as a Chiefs fan I was glad to see them paint themselves into the corner where they had one shot at it, because I knew how hard it would be for them to actually run it down to close to zero and still get a TD.

They ran a ton of clock in the 13 seconds game too. Damn near pulled it off. Just needed to run another 5-6 seconds and that would have done it, lol

Which is the difference between being the team that thinks they have to be perfect to win, vs. the team that feels confident they'll pull it out somehow. The first team tends to press. I get that vibe from McDermott on some of his late game decisions.

The fake punt was a massive panic move by McDermott. He is extremely fortunate Hardman fumbled at the goal line to prevent a 10 point lead for KC right after the fake punt imploded for McDermott. Hardman pretty much took the heat away from McDermott, and now everyone in Buffalo wants to murder the Wide Right 2.0 kicker.
