I was on the IMDB site a few days ago and the message board for the film Shattered from 2007. Someone asked if it was any good since Gerard Butler was in it, and I posted 'no' it was too far-fetched. I mean, an unarmed 60 year old Pierce Brosdan slaps around a 40 year old muscular Gerard Butler and were suppose to believe that. I think that's why the film went straight to video. Well, Pierce does have the leverage of having a cell phone and if he makes a call Gerard's daughter may be killed, as if he can make that call before Gerard could break his arm trying.
Somebody else then asks if Law Abiding Citizen was any good, and they responded yes and another good similar film was Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon. I wrote, Death Sentence was average at best but the following year the Jodi Foster flick the Brave One was much better revenge movie. Then I suggested watching the original urban revenge film, 1974's Death Wish with Charles Bronson and then 1977's Rolling Thunder with Tommy Lee Jones and William Devane. Their response was, they didn't like Charles Bronson and haven't seen the others. These people give their opinion about films. BTW, the lead dark hair actress in "An Education" that was suppose to be in high school is also the blond widow with the baby in "Brothers", I would of never recognized her if I hadn't looked up her name. Welp, the 2009 Sherlock Holmes film is exactly what I thought it would be: utterly un-Holmes like & pretty much garbage.

In related non-news, Inglorious Basterds is still a very long wait at the top of my queue.

That's what I figured, which sucks because I'm a fan of Sherlock Holmes stories. I don't even think I'll bother with the movie. They do have him fight sometimes in the BBC productions, but the action/adventure stuff in the movie seems a bit much.

LOL, at this point I'm just interested to see how long it takes for Netflix to send it to me. I don't really mind the wait now that the hype and all the discussion has passed.

I enjoyed it. But you have to like Robert Downey, and you have to know that you're in for a modern, MTV, iPod, ADD retelling of the story. It's made by Guy Ritchie, after all. (And of course it was "utterly un-Holmes-like". if it was "Holmes-like", it would've been produced by the BBC, had some ugly British actors in it, and made around $2M in release.) It was basically a buddy-cop movie set 100+ years ago. But I thought Downey and Law brought dimension to their roles, and their bickering reminded me of "House" (as it was very House/Wilson-esque).

Saw "Clash of the Titans" in 3D today. It was pretty dumb and cheesy. Not unentertaining, with some pretty girls to look at, decent animation and effects (nothing earth-shattering but well-done enough), and had Sam Worthington in it. If you grew up on bad fantasy/sci-fi like "Krull", "The Beastmaster", "Conan", etc.,., then it's a mildly-enjoyable way to kill 2 hours if you turn your brain off.
