810 Just said someone got murderd outside Arrowhead
Police: Man who died at Arrowhead was in a vehicle similar to one he arrived in
December 3 BY CHRISTINE VENDEL The Kansas City Star A Smithville man who was found in someone else’s Jeep and then died in a struggle outside Arrowhead Stadium Sunday had gone to the game in a similar vehicle that was parked nearby, police said Tuesday. The Jeep also showed no signs of a break-in, leading police to believe it may have been left unlocked when Kyle Van Winkle, 30, climbed in and sat down. Police released the additional details Tuesday as they continued to investigate what led to the death of Van Winkle, who had attended the Chiefs game against the Denver Broncos with relatives. Detectives planned to interview relatives Tuesday to determine when they last saw him inside the stadium. Police were called to Lot A of the Truman Sports Complex about 5:20 p.m. Sunday on a disturbance. Witnesses told police the Jeep owner had returned to his vehicle with his son, who is about 10 years old, when they realized a stranger was inside. The boy summoned help from several tail-gaters and they engaged in a struggle with Van Winkle, who had been sitting in the Jeep. Van Winkle collapsed and later died at a hospital. Police did not say how Van Winkle died, but they said his body bore no signs of obvious injury. Officers arrested three men shortly after the death, but they had to track down the fourth man who was arrested. Police searched one man’s home in Independence on Monday. Detectives released three of the men Monday night and the fourth man Tuesday morning, pending further investigation. If I woke up to a drunk guy on my couch, I'd probably call a friend over and if that's not possible call the police to explain the situation but also call a cab for the poor bastard. Wake him up when both arrive to explain things can go one of two ways for the guy.
I can't imagine kicking the guy's ass would be my first course of action.

I know, right? Much worse than the guy who thinks its ok to drink until he loses control and common sense.
"oh hey, you're drunk? Sure go ahead and climb into my car. Maybe throw up or piss your pants while you're at it. Haha, your lack of self control is so funny and totally excuses abuse of a stranger's property."

Eh...you're treading on dangerous ground any time you're ****ing around with someone's car. I have a 10 year old Grand Cherokee that is my most prized possession, I'm more protective of it than my house. I'd be pretty pissed if I found someone even sitting in it. Then again I always lock the doors when I leave it in a parking lot.

My friends and I were partying in college at a house part and we were all underage. Cops came to break it up and my buddy was super worried he was going to get an MIP. He leaves out the back door and gets to the street in the front of the house. Walks down a few houses and calls someone for a ride. He gets nervous about a cop being on the street and that they might check his ID. So he decides he'll see if any of the cars on the street are open and lie down in the back seat until his ride arrives. He tries this one car and immediately upon trying the back door, out pops a cop from the driver's side. He was totally unaware he was trying to get into a cop car! The officer said he wouldn't have given him an MIP because he wasn't planning on driving but that he would have to now since he was so wasted that he tried to get into the backseat of a cop car.

Personal responsibility also includes self control and not beating a person to death over a drunken accident, no?

What I want to know was did the guy resist to get out of the car? Why did they feel the need to beat the sh*t out of an incoherent drunk?

You can be a tough guy without being a douchebag.

Unfortunately, the typical male psyche tends to override this possibility 99% of the time.
It's much easier for guys to be a tough guy while being a douchebag, versus being a tough guy while not being a douche bag. It's also substantially much more difficult for a male to objectively ascertain a situation and act in a coherent and rational manner which allows all parties to achieve some degree of satisfaction from a potential negative situation without being a "tough guy," douche bag or no douche bag. But I'm sure that the 10 year old kid really enjoyed his dad beating some dude to death for a mistake. When dad misses his graduation, wedding, birth of his grandson because he's in prison for killing a guy who was sitting in his piece of shit car by mistake, I'm sure he'll look fondly back at the whole incident and have a good laugh. |
