Chiefs Are 'Badly' Trying To Trade Down To Middle Of First Round

Not sure if it has been posted.....

Chiefs Are 'Badly' Trying To Trade Down To Middle Of First*Round

by Joel Thorman on Apr 18, 2010 10:34 AM CDT in 2010 Campaign

Last year about this time, Michael Lombardi of the National Football Post first reported that the Chiefs were "in love" with LSU DE Tyson Jackson. A few days later and Jackson was the Chiefs pick in the draft.

Now Lombardi reports that the Chiefs are trying like hell to move down in the draft.

"The Chiefs are trying, and I mean really trying, to move down," Lombardi reports. "My sources tell me they'll be willing to go down as far as 15 for the right deal because they feel they can find a player in that range."

It's a fine line between trading down and trading down too far. According to Lombardi, our theory of the Eagles offering up the 24th and 37th picks for the Chiefs fifth pick doesn't look like it's happening. By staying around 15, they can still have a shot at a game changer -- Alabama LB Rolando McClain and Texas S Earl Thomas come to mind here -- as well as picking up extra selections.

That said, who's the Chiefs trading partner? SB Nation's Mocking The Draft takes an excellent look at this situation and comes to the conclusion that San Francisco might be the only team in that area that has a chance of moving up.

Lombardi reports the Chiefs are hoping someone wants to get in line to pick Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen.

Just remember, douchebag, that wicked awesome bank statement buys you exactly **** all here.

I'd have to think long and hard about the decision
1st off my statement was not made to "compare bank accounts" I am not going there. I am not close to being wealthy though I make a good living.

The daily $ figure I was referring to was $ managed on a daily basis in my job etc....Risk vs reward. It's easy to talk shit here where this is zero risk and that's why people like you and Dane are so comfortable doing it. No risk just let the insults fly. I imagine in real life you probably aren't as rude to people, at least I hope not. Chances are you aren't or you would likely be getting your ass handed to you on a daily basis.

My comment was based on the fact I find it a little ridiculous to be called stupid and dumb by internet geniuses who use nothing but insults and their own jaded opinions to make their point.

Have a good day.

Damn I will be glad when this draft is over and we can get beyond "Berry the Savior" dribble.

His is way overated and Earl Thomas will be a better pro safety than Berry, at worst every bit as good.

You do not pay #5 draft pick money for a freakin safety, unless you are already have a superbowl type roster. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Pioli is not stupid, so all you Berry worshipers need to be getting your suicide plans worked out.

**** that.

I'd love nothing more than Pioli to knock this draft out of the park.

This place is negative because the teams have been poor, (10-38 over last 3 years) and the decision making has been piss poor.

Make good decisions and the team will get better - because you've acquired some talent - and this place will become more positive.

The only way you'll know if he knocked it out of the park is 2-3 years down the road.

Oh, bullshit.

Talent isn't the only variable here, and you know it.

If he takes a ****ing RT with the 5th overall pick, he blew the pick, plain and simple.

Value is part of the equation as well.

When you have a Top 5 pick, you should be getting someone who projects as an elite player.

I'd have a lot more respect for the man if he drafted Berry and for some reason, the kid busted - than to use the 5th most valuable pick in the draft for a non-skill player.

I hope that bullshit he said the other day about being scared to take risks was nothing more than draft poker, because if it's true, this team will never acquire the talent necessary to compete for championships.

I agree 100%.

Please, that post wasn't directed towards you, it was directed to "the sick bastard", which is the type of person that gets laughs from the implosion tendancies of CP (myself included).

I hope that Pioli makes the right pick.

I know it wasn't, but there are people that would rather see us take a "safe" player just to see implosion that would rightly occur.

This is the most important draft in recent memory. It's vital for the franchise to get at least 1 elite player and 3-4 solid players they can build around.

**** the safe pick. Safe has gotten Jack Shit for decades.

Clausen For The "F*** the True Fan" Win

or

Berry FTW

Personally, I hopes it's Clausen, because the upside is SB Championships. If Berry maxes out,he will be amazing, but that might not translate to Championships.

FWIW, Chris Landry said that this year is the deepest draft in the last 27 years (due to the impending/likely rookie salary cap scale). He thinks first round grade players will be available through the first 48 picks or so.

If that's the case, trading down is at least defensible given the number of holes (especially at NT, ILB, and S) this team has. I'd take 4 picks in the top 50, plus a lower rounder or a future pick.
