Nah. That is what Cosmos does. Pretty much all he does. Starts a thread with a profoundly partisan article, mumbles a few comments, runs away. He might end up with 2 or 3 posts of his own in a 1000+ post thread that he just shit out onto the board. He's not doing it to start a conversation, because he's not even trying to participate in one. If you're going to grab your stick and stir the pot then don't cry when you end up splashing shit on yourself.

The only argument that really holds water is saying "I know what I did was wrong, but what about so and so"... yeah, we miss things, but if you were banned from a thread or whatever, I can almost guarantee you it was a group decision.

A few people have mentioned knowing who to scroll past in DC and that's probably one thing I'm personally not as good at, since I know the regular shitposters in the Lounge and scroll past them if I'm actually looking for football content.

And there are people I read in the Lounge who kind of seem off their rocker in DC.

Isn't it one of the soccer leagues where if you suck enough, you get moved down to a different league or something... I feel like that whole promotion thing should go both ways. If you post enough and get some rep, you can post in DC, but if your rep sucks you automatically get demoted to the Romper Room.

I just don't see the problem that some of you see. I definitely see how some of the posters on the politics forum would be viewed as far out by the average person (including myself), but I don't see anything harmful there. Arbitrary labels of "misinformation" are potentially much more dangerous in my eyes.

I don't believe in restricting freedom of speech, beyond the obvious (threats, excessively inappropriate content, etc). It's a slippery slope, even if it begins with good intentions.

Some people are here for the shitposting and banter, while others are here for discussion... I've always enjoyed both and of course there are obvious shitposting threads and then threads that should be a discussion.

For the sake of discussing politics on a football message board, I'm not sure I'd even say the extreme views or even outright misinformation is the worst part of DC... unless that stuff is plastered and opinion spammed, you would basically know which threads are which.

I think one rule that could help the forum overall would be the reddit style tagging of shitpost versus 'serious post'... we sort of have that functionality with icons and already have the poop emotional icon.

So those who wanted to post threads for discussion without all the noise could do so and people can't complain about shitposts being full of shit.

Of course, the Lounge Covid thread was technically that kind of thread, which went over like a lead balloon.... but, it could have potential.
