2019 Free agency Thread
We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.
If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research. https://overthecap.com/ |

how about this-
Would you rather pay Dee Ford $16 million for one year, hoping he repeats last year's production, and then you'll have to re-sign him for more than $16m on a longer deal (and he's 28 now.) OR would you rather pay Trey Flowers $16 m a year for 4 or 5 years (he's 25, with no signifigant injury history)? He's a good run defender and a solid pass rusher so he helps in all facets of the game. His game is still ascending. He already knows and has played for our new DL coach. Plus his shiny new SB ring can make everyone jealous. PLUS you'll get a #2 pick in the deal for trading Ford on the tag. So-Flowers at 25 years old plus a #2 pick for Dee Ford, 27 years old, lengthy injury history, pass rush specialist and liability against the run ? |

Just remember our Defense is already much improved just from the coaching turnover. Those new coaches are going to be hungry for performance from our players.

First of all you can't compete with Indy if they want Trey Flowers. Also who is trading a second round pick for Ford again? People here say he's too much of an injury risk to keep and then just assume someone will pay a second round pick for that risk?

You can definitely compete if it's not all about money.

What if Indy thinks Dee Ford is the pass rusher they need to put them over the top?

I guess my point is, if Dee Ford is so valuable to Indy that Ballard (candidate for GM of the year) is willing to pay a high draft pick for him then my opinion is Ballard knows more than all of you and we should definitely keep Ford. |
