Just got around to watching it. Excellent episode. I can't wait to see Adama's reaction to a Base Ship joining his fleet. And it took me a couple of scenes to figure out that Nana Visitor was Emily. She did a good job.
Still not sure where they're taking this. I'm just enjoying the ride. We now return you to your regularly scheduled Chase Masterson droolfest. |

New to watching the show and trying to figure out all the moving pieces. Wiki has lots of info. ....would someone please translate what the Cyclon woman said to Starbuck?? Go slow and use small words. Thanks!

The missing three is likely a reference to the D'anna Biers (Lucy Lawless) model (#3) of the "skinjob" Cylons. She was ordered to be boxed (shut down) by the Brother Cavil (#1) models played by Dean Stockwell. This was ordered because she was getting obsessed with identifying the "Final Five", and had a vision of them (also in the Opera House) when the fleet discovered a temple on the Algae planet in season 3. Since the beginning of the Cylon civil war between the models a few episodes ago, several models have been pushing for the 3's to be reactivated. The "Five" are a reference to the "Final Five", which are an entirely different type of Cylon according to the director of the show. Known members of the "Final Five" are Col. Tigh, Tory, Chief Tyrol, and Anders. The fifth is as yet unknown. "Coming from the home of the Thirteenth" is likely a reference to Earth, which was the destination of the 13th tribe when the Exodus from Kobol occurred a couple of thousand years ago. The other 12 founded the 12 colonies of man which were wiped out in the initial miniseries. I'm also now wondering if this implies that the fleet itself is the 13th tribe, involved in a self-fulfilling prophecy. Thrace (Starbuck) is the harbinger of death and will lead them all to their end...your guess is as good as mine. I'm beginning to think the end she will lead them to is the end of the division between Cylon and Human, but that's only a hunch. Something to keep in mind is a statement repeated several times throughout the series "All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again". It seems to have a tie to a component of Colonial theology referred to as the "Cycle of Time". Hope this helps. I'd really advise renting the miniseries and DVD's of the first 3 seasons. It's some of the best writing I've seen for a TV show, and the evolution of some of the characters has been fascinating to watch. It will also help to pass the time between the end of the first half of season 4 (4 episodes away, IIRC) and the last 10 episodes sometime in late '08-'09. If I've thrown out anything too confusing, don't hesitate to ask. As you can tell, we love to kick ideas about this show around.

Mostly jibberish, as aparently the Hybrids vocalize all the functions they are doing to the ship at that time. And also aparently, all the Hybrids are in agreement that Kara is going to lead the human race to its destruction. The part right before one of the Boomers pulled the plug was as coherent as a Hybrid will be, and she was pretty to the point.

And something just occured to me, that maybe they've covered this season and I've missed: why have they not tried to use the same treatment a second time on Roslin? The child is not only still alive, but with the fleet... |

They haven't mentioned the treatment AFAIK. That's a bit of a plot hole, IMO. Oh well, they do better with consistency than many shows I've seen. One thing I really noticed this week, the Galactica looks like it's in horrible shape. Much more realistic than "Voyager" where it was just as shiny and new at the end of 7 years as it started out. The Bucket has taken a couple of years of real abuse, and looks it. Kudos to the FX guys.

Thank you very much. My wife and I are really enjoying the show. When it first started, I couldn't look past the ballastic weapons and 21st century helmets.googles; standard Dell type keyboards, etc; and thus didn't watch. Big Mistake. Watched Razor and loved it. Very intense show. Good stuff. Thanks again. I get home late tonight but intend to share with wife and rewatch the last 15 minutes with your info in mind.

I know what you mean about the "low-tech" approach, but it's explained in the early episodes very well. It also grew on me because it enhanced the feeling that this was basically folks like you and me caught up in one of the darkest premises for sci-fi ever, without getting lost in a lot of technobabble.

Still wish they'd spend about 5 minutes showing how the cylon civil war is progressing. A big montage would probably blow their special effects budget but it does seem to be a shame that there's this massive war going on within the cylon empire and we only get to see bits and pieces. I thought Anders would get "outed" on the basestar. Not sure why the raiders could recognize him as a cylon but the centurions cannot. Given that he shot Gaeta I'm guessing Anders will get to spend some quality brig time with the 6. As for Adama, I was starting to wonder whether Olmos was getting paid by the minute and they were trying to save money by cutting his screen time ... |

We know Tigh has spent time with Caprica 6 and wasn't recognized (AFAIAK), and no skinjobs on the ship recognized Anders. Heck, even the 3 that interrogated Anders on Caprica in "Downloaded" didn't seem to pick up on it. Quote:
Can't wait for Friday's episode named "Guess What's Coming to Dinner". This is going to get really confusing. Keeping Natalie-6 and Caprica-6 straight, Boomer-8 and Athena/Sharon-8, and the new Council-8. Though I wouldn't object to spending some quality time with the 6's and 8's doing...research on how to tell the specific ones apart. Just keep Leoben the frak away from me.

Here's an interesting blog done by one the VFX guys that works on Battlestar Galactica.
He's a real fan of TOS, and has some great artwork on the Early-generation Centurions from "Razor". http://darthmojo.wordpress.com/2008/...my-of-a-cylon/ Also, Eric Stoltz will be joining the cast of "Caprica", as will the girl that committed suicide in The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
