RESOLVED: The 2011 NCAA Basketball Selection Committee is a drooling pack of reeruns. I was randomly assigned to the negative, and you were randomly assigned to the affirmative. You'll probably win the argument.

Ohio State has 8 potential opponents in the top 30 in KenPom, the rest of the #1's have 5 or 6. Statistically, that's pretty tough.

I think it's all the Big East teams. There are 11 of them mucking up the bracket. It's gonna be brutal figuring out who is going to make it far and who isn't. There are several you could see doing well, but not one where you go "there, that's the best team."

Duke's potential opponents by KenPom:
Two teams in the top 10 (Texas, San Diego St), three in the top 20 (+UConn), five in the top 30 (+Cinci and Arizona). Pittsburgh's potential opponents by KenPom: One team in the top 10 (Wisconsin), Five teams in the top 20 (+BYU, Florida, Utah St, Belmont), Seven teams in the top 30 (+Gonzaga and KSU) Ohio State's potential opponents by KenPom: One team in the top 10 (Kentucky), Four teams in the top 20 (+Cuse, UNC, Wash), eight teams in the top 30 (+WVU, GMU, Villanova, Clemson). KU's potential opponents by KenPom: Two teams in the top 10 (Purdue, Notre Dame), Four teams in the top 20 (+Louisville, Illinois), Five teams in the top 30 (+UNLV) Ohio State may not have a lot of elite teams in their bracket, but they have a ton of good ones. Duke doesn't have a lot of threats, but two elite teams that could knock them out (Texas, SDSU). |

I'm ripping this off from the KU thread... but here's the TV schedule. Both MU and K-State got the late game on Thursday... TNT/Tru-TV respectively. |

San Diego State had over 4000 fans sitting behind the team for the announcement on Selection Sunday and they didn't show it on CBS, but they showed N. Colorado who were all in their coaches house sitting on the couch or something.
I didn't see the whole show but I guarantee you that SDSU had one of, if not the best crowd showing today. Too bad CBS didn't cut into Viejas Arena. |

Just finished my bracket. I went hog-wild with upsets this year, but I feel fine with that because I think there's a lot more parity in college basketball than ever before. The southeast region was a smoking ruin of dead favorites when I was done with it.
Final four: OSU, Kansas, SDSU, K-State Championship game: Kansas 85, SDSU 70

Also, Gus Johnson appears on Friday. George Mason/Nova and the Ohio State game on TNT in the afternoon. Xavier/Marquette and Syracuse/Indiana St. on Tru TV at night. Plan your upsets accordingly.
