It's exactly the same risk/reward issue people fail to see when talking about taking a QB in the first round... they would rather have a pro bowl first round tackle for the next 10 years than find a franchise QB after possibly failing a couple times. They would rather have a QB who doesn't take any chances and doesn't lose games than a QB who can carry a team, takes chances, but throws a few picks.

Smith has been key in the turnaround. We are dropping back about 40 times a game, not running RRPP.

95% of the passes in this offense are nothing more than extended handoffs.

Sadly, they'd be a better offense if they were closer to RRPP than what they are currently.

Can't get away with ignoring the run until the 4th quarter all season.

Smith is on pace for 3500 yards. He'd likely be on pace for 4000 if the line wasn't so terrible.

Dunno what rules your league has, but in my league he's about 20th.

He should at least be on pace for 5,000 yards with this year 1 offense, lackluster deep threats, and the 7th worst pass blocking OL.

Wins are not good enough. We need to see that he can shoot it out with playoff teams. Playoffs are right around the corner!

3500 yards and 20 TD's.

Pretty much exactly what his detractors said he'd be.

I wouldn't expect any improvement from the OL this season.

17 QBs threw for 3500 yards last season... 14 the year before.

Is it 1994 in this thread?

The OL is always such a convenient excuse. The Packers and Steelers have won championships with OL's MUCH worse than ours.

Did you see the SNF package about Cutler getting rid of the ball in under 2 seconds?

Considering we don't throw the ball down the field, AS should have no problem getting rid of the ball quickly.

The problem is, he's slow to make decisions, gets happy feet, and often runs himself into more trouble - though often running himself out of trouble.

I understand that people are happy with the 3-0 start - I am as well. I'm breaking my own rule and going to the game on Sunday.

But to act as if AS has been the reason we're winning, while ignoring his limitations is just sticking your head in the sand. It's OK to admit that we've been fortunate, and that we have some issues on offense. It doesn't make you a bad fan.

I like him but I don't think he will play all sixteen games running around cause he won't force the ball and/ or can't find the open receiver.
At some point it'll catch up with him and he will sit for an extended period.

Not havin the qb take a shit sack and turn the ball over every other play has been nice.

Gotta get Charles the rock early and often though.
