Hopefully Florida State and Clemson to make the Big 12 the Big 12 again.
even if the Big 12 makes a little less money per school at first, it will be worth it in the long run to have the schools committed. If we wait until the big explosion then we might end up without having much choice.

Those would be two excellent additions. Much stronger, overall, than WVU and TCU, the latter of which I view as a true dog.

This is where it's going. This is where it's always been going and the ACC isn't just going to take a cornholing here. They're going to try to get active as well. If for no other reason than to avoid the perception of being the 'tiny' conference, the Big 12 will need to get back to 12 in a hurry. 10 is a nice quaint concept...that's going to be obsolete in the very near future. The Big 12 needs to get some invites out there before they run out of dance partners.

no way in hell does the Big 12 go west. Especially for a shit school like SDSU. Sorry Buck.
No one, and I mean NO ONE in the Big 12 territory as it exists today will stay up until midnight to watch a Big 12 school play SDSU. And that would be 1AM for WVU.

Do you think BYU is still a legitimate possibility? I've read mixed reports on that pairing thus far.

first come, first serve when the big bang comes, the perceived weakest conference is going to go bye-bye. The Big 12 needs to position themselves so that considered one of the power conferences BEFORE everything breaks apart.

From what I've read, the BYU motion died when BYU told the conference they were unwilling to open their books for review.

Florida State and BYU (If Clemson is out of the picture) would add an incredible amount of respect to the conference.

Lots of people are transplants in this part of California. I imagine if you had B12 teams coming to play, attendance and following are going to increase substantially. Heck, if my son could earn a scholarship there, I would send him in a heartbeat (academic/music, he's not an athlete), very well credited college with discriminating standards. SDU is probably viewed as a little more elite with their marine biology program, but SDSU is no slouch. That said, I have a hard time imagining a southern California member. The reason they are not in the PAC is because USC and UCLA hunt the San Diego County athletes, and its a good market. Junior Seau probably the most famous and Kansas fans will remember Scot Pollard. Those schools don't want more local competition. Its not hard to imagine their pool of athletes would go up with B12 membership. The distance, however, is really difficult to get over and really makes one wonder how they would fit in any divisional or pod system if it gets that big. I would love to see it for personal reasons, of course.

no. We've had some fairly reliable reports from both sides that the Big 12 has concluded that BYU is too much of a pain in the ass. They were originally in the plans to get back to 10.

Take this for what its worth. Jon Wilner is the beat writer for the San Jose Mercury News (how the hell does a California writer have ACC sources?) so its above "random blogger", but might be a notch below mainstream news.
