I'd rather bring back fat Moose for 3 years than giving Hosmmer that contract

I don't have a problem with it. You aren't paying shit for Whit, Mondesi, and Cuthbert on the infield. 20 million in 3-4 years won't get you Jack Shit.

I mean shit man, how disengenuous can you be. "Only 3 of the top 10 made the hall..."

His top 10 - Andruw Jones, who will get close to the Hall but probably not make it due to his bizarre Dale Murphy sort of collapse. Frank Robinson - uh, he's not bad. Upton - a very good player who never approached peak Harper even as he damn near won an MVP at 23. Giancarlo Stanton - if he stays healthy he's hitting 600+ bombs and he'll go in; he's demonstrating clear HoF skills. Sierra - that one admittedly surprises me. Juan Gonzalez - his steroid fueled numbers are what puts him at the level of Harper in his early 20s and if he'd have stayed on the juice he'd have gone in; dude was a monster. do you just not remember the perennial triple crown threat he was on roids? Hank Aaron, Miguel Cabrera, Ken Griffey Jr and Mike Trout. Um...yeah, that's not bad company.

So 4 of them are still active, 3 of them on clear HoF tracks and the 4th is damn good in his own right. One of them was a steroid fueled freak, another suffered one of the more obvious late-career collapses in MLB history. The others are among the best players in baseball history.

You got Ruben Sierra though, I'll give you that.

Harper is a damn monster. He's had 2 seasons with an OPS over 1.000 by 24 years old and his 2016 season was on track to be as good as his '15 (and '17) seasons but/for his shoulder injury. Look at his splits before he got hurt that year. But yeah, he stepped on a wet bag wrong and his damn knee almost exploded in '17 so clearly he's just some flash in the pan.

Seriously, this is almost as stupid as your Arenado idiocy (very little is as stupid as your Arenado idiocy). You just don't know ****-all about National League baseball, do you?

I'll put up your "Let's trade Matt Carpenter for Alex Bregman!" mega-faceplant this summer. I tried to save you from that hideous one, but you persisted.

@Ken_Rosenthal: Report from @BNightengale, quoting persons close to Eric Hosmer, says #Royals have offered him 7 years, $147M while #Padres have offered 7 years, $140M. Whether Hosmer and Scott Boras jump at either number remains to be seen. Their goal likely is eight years and up; Hosmer is 28.

@sdutdennislin: The Padres, as previously reported, have offered Eric Hosmer seven years, but I hear their bid is actually lower than $140 million.

When? When I said 'send them Carpenter and cover his contract and if they still say no move on to Tucker and Paulino instead..."?

Hard to see what's a faceplant about 'move Carpenter to the Astros for one of their high-end surplus prospects...'

1. They wouldn't do Bregman even with Carpenter + contract.

2. I just found our conversation. Are you sure it went the way you described?

3. You and I were discussing baseball. Always happy to do so. But you suddenly took it personal, into name calling. Don't ever do that again. Kapiche?

No, they wouldn't do it now. Bregman got white-hot a few weeks later when Correa went down. But at the time of the discussion he was struggling badly and getting into Twitter Bro-Downs with fans while rumblings of clubhouse problems were surfacing. That's a 'buy low' target if you can get it. And if you can't, you try for the next best option (Tucker).

As for name-calling, I assume this is when I said you were being disingenuous because you...were? Exactly like you did here with your Harper conversation.

You just flat out cherry pick and make up bullshit arguments then get indignant about getting called out for it.

You knew that Miggy, Stanton and Trout were on that list of comparables through 24 and intentionally omitted it. You knew Juan Gone was on there and that he was a damn monster during the years in question (and as a Royals fan know all to well what happened when he got off the juice). You knew all these things but chose to sit on them in the hopes nobody would bother looking it up and you'd somehow make a stronger point.

That is an absolute bullshit way to go about 'discussing baseball' and if that's how you want to continue to do it, I'll continue to point it out.

Seriously - they just gave up a top 35 pick so they can take Garappolo for a test drive. And if he plays well, they're going to have to pay through the nose to extend him.

Meanwhile, if they liked what they saw on film that much, they could've left him on BB's bench, hoped it suppressed his value and pursued him on the open market in the off-season.

I'd have pulled the trigger on this if it came with a negotiating window to put together a 3-year deal, but giving up that kind of draft capital without a net...well that's why the 49ers suck right now, IMO.

Someday I'll figure out why teams keep trading for these Patriot backups as though they're anything more than clipboard carriers for the greatest HC/QB duo in NFL history. Jimmy G isn't a big guy and he has a history of dings/scratches, which bodes ill for a guy that's never been a starter - why do they think he can handle the added workload? And he's been a big time dink/dunker in his limted run in NE to boot.

He doesn't have tools that jump off the page by any means. His arm talent is fine; 2nd, maybe 3rd round pick caliber. His athleticism is also just fine; nothing exceptional but it doesn't hold him back. He's a big ball of 'meh' with a ceiling as a fringe top 10 passer at best, IMO. And the 49ers will get to pay him FA starting quarterback money to make that happen for them.

I don't get this trade at all.

To be fair everyone thought that trade was stupid and now they are gonna have to give him a mega deal and he doesn't even have 10 career starts.

Nothing I find more hilarious than fans of other teams who don't watch Eric Hosmer or Mike Moustakas play explain to Royals fans why Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas aren't good. Almost as hilarious as 'advanced metrics' that tell us Hosmer is a shitty defensive 1st baseman. Yeah, ok.

No one thought giving up a high 2nd round pick for a QB that had played 3 games and was an impeding free agent was smart. It was basically giving up a draft pick to hand out a megadeal to an unproven player.
