Clear shitposts - Easily the "if you don't like it, don't click"
Chiefs GDTs and venting threads, rep threads, etc.... shitposty

The big gray area though is all of the other football threads where some people don't want to sift through pages of garbage to find or discuss a topic... and thus is where "don't like it, don't click" falls apart.

I don't feel that DC has those lines drawn, but could be wrong as I don't frequent it... and again, I feel that's where "just ignore it" doesn't work well. I just clicked on a thread this morning that was downright civil... asked a question, got an answer. 5 stars, great experience.

And that's how I'd personally use DC. And that's where I feel like having a [serious] thread tag could help... and just like "if you don't like my shitpost stay out", if you don't like staying on topic and being civil, stay out of that subset of threads. (of course, it opens a can of worms on what is "serious", especially when some people "seriously" believe some insane shit)
Another gray area is crossover topics. Covid was saved as a discussion because of heavy moderation. Marcus peters started that way but as of today if a chief starts kneeling it’ll be in DC within hours. Same goes with Breaking news about tragedies where someone is going to politicize it. Feel like there’s no reason why these types of topics couldn’t be civilly discussed in lounge without unnecessary trolling.

I get that for the majority of social and political topics those should be shipped to the lounge and bubbled off. But it’s frustrating when good discussion eventually turns into one page where the inevitable “welp, off to dc we go” comment chimes in.

It's like a giant elephant in the room that we're suppose to avoid because it's political, but the entire subject is rooted in politics.

If this next paragraph gets me in trouble so be it.

My opinion is that in the early goings of this, he was seen as sort of a comforting figure. You had this articulate, intelligent and good spirited man as Trump's advisor telling the public to be calm, at a time when the WH seemed rather unsure and rather dismissive of the subject.

America needed a guy that they could trust when #$%^ was bumbling his early days through this and was clear that he needed an advisor. In comes this guy that is a leading expert since Reagan, that the WH has thrown into the public and told was THE MAN on the subject. He had the charisma and intellect and most of America gravitated towards him. He comforted America, letting people feel like they had the right guy to guide us through this.

Next thing you know he's doing interviews on certain media outlets and i'm reading threads that are rather trustworthy and fond of him.

And i still remember how opinions shifted within days when...well...anything more i could say from here would be crossing the line i guess.

It's always amusing to watch these sorts of things mutate.

To be fair, there was a stretch where a good number of people would report a post in that thread for doing just that, and a lot less. "Republican" and "Democrat" being typed out would get you reported. It was constant, too.....nothing but reported posts for politics that had the most miniscule political mentions or meanings. People were little bitches about it and that drove the mods to be sick of it, and that's when the political moratorium for that thread took place. Plus, the thought was the Covid thread in DC could be used for the political hashings if people wanted and everything would be ok, but yeah.

TL;DR - you can't make everyone happy

We have been banning people from those threads for a while as opposed to simply moving them, unless we think the thread really should have been created in DC, or if we get to it too late and it's a lost cause to ever get back on track.

I 100% agree, certain topics should be Lounge-worthty without inserting politics and bullshit... even Covid, there's PLENTY to talk about even with it being heavily politicized. And high level politics (stating a factual "the White House released this") would generally be acceptable, except of course it just creates a line for people to cross.

You've said that twice in like 12 hours in this thread.

And that was like a year ago, and you weren't even banned from the thread... the post was deleted.

When [name redacted] is reelected and shit costs less, I'll buy you a bridge if your ass is still chapped about it to help you get over it.
