He's very thorough. Just about every post that vaguely suggests Taylor is playing LT has a thumbs down in this thread.
What's funny is - do any of us really care? If they line up Smith at LT and Taylor at RT and it works that will be awesome. If they line up Taylor at LT and somebody else at RT and it works that will be just as awesome. As long as they have a line that can protect 15 I can't imagine caring. Have heard nothing from the actual team that is definitive. I'm sure they have an initial idea but I doubt they are even committed to it in any way at this point. I'm glad to see they now have another option on board.

Well someone DID mention that this signing suggests a Jones extension is likely in the offing in order to clear the cap space to make it work.

So...maybe?

Still less annoying than that Bugger clown mucking up the works.

Exactly.

If Smith comes in and wins the LT job, move Taylor to RT and be done with it.

I'm not saying I'm AGAINST that. I'm saying I really don't think it's going to happen.

I wonder if the Chiefs will determine who starts where based on each players' performance in OTAs and training camp and shit like that.

Not a very innovative approach, but I say give it a shot.

As long as the plan is not to tank to get the top LT in next years draft, I am probably good with it.

I only care that they improve protection on the corners. I kinda like watching our QB play healthy instead of hobbled.

Very few people here actually dislike the signing. There's a few sure but the whole mess from this afternoon has to do with differences in opinion on what exact role Smith is going to play.

Its way too early to worry about his exact spot IMO

All that really matter now is that Heck has a veteran, Super Bowl winning player to play mix & match with... as others have said before, it'll sort itself out in camp

Hell its not our money being spent, if Veach thinks its a good idea I'm down with it

Well that there is up to a few people at one arrowhead Dr. As far as I know nobody in CP is in that circle of need to know.

This is what I have been saying all along. I thought if a LT fell to the early 20's and we trade up to take them, Veach would have no issue keeping Taylor at RT and starting a plug and play top rookie. I think this is the same here. If Smith returns to form at LT of previous years, let them play their natural positions. As I said in the draft thread, the pay difference between left and right tackle is narrowing with every RT contract and will continue to narrow as today's edge rushers are coming from both sides and top offenses our spreading the TE out. This is the flexibility we've been talking about and we should be better than last year upfront.
