Inception is a fun film. Pretty breezy and weightless, actually. But certainly fun. It isn't hard to follow at all, not for me anyway. It isn't "complex" as some people have been saying; certainly not intellectually complex. I mean, there is a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream with stuff happening in reality too, all at the same time, but you'd be surprised how simple it is to keep track of it all.
The direction is superb. The cast is packed with quality (DiCaprio! Marion Cotillard! Joseph Gordon-Levitt! Ken Watanabe! Ellen Page! Cillian Murphy! Tom Hardy! Tom Berenger! a Michael Cane cameo!), though only Leo, Cotillard and Murphy get to portray characters of any nuance. If only all Summer blockbusters were as fun, visually imaginative and well-directed as Inception is. |

Interesting fact...did you know that Lamont (Guy Torry) in that film is actually a comedian who turned up this year on Last Comic Standing? It was actually a shame to see him on there. I liked him in the movie, but he was horrible the week he got kicked off of LCS.

Anyone seen Cyrus yet? I'm thinking of seeing it after Inception tomorrow.

Just watched Brooklyn's Finest. It is a strange film. The acting is on point. The cinematography, the shots, the edits, the cuts are all well-done on the part of director Antoine Fuqua & crew. A lot of the press coverage of the movie centered on the screenplay, written by a first-time writer who was working at a tollbooth, and that screenplay has a nice, real sense of dialogue.
So why is this film a disappointment? Well, whatever merits the script does have is tarnished by the use of just about every cop movie cliche in existence. And while the acting is certainly good across the board the characters are written pretty flatly. And while the film looks good, it is also laboriously long and in need of trimming. And while it is structured like a Greek tragedy and clearly influenced by The Wire, it lacks enough emotional investment to matter and it falls short of its ambitions & doesn't look graceful doing it. |

Saw "Brooklyns Finest"...
It's similiar to crash in a way with seperate story lines. Entertaining flick but nothing great, kinda like a training day type cop movie on steroids. Tons of sex and tits galore in this movie and pretty violent. Wasn't too bad. Also alot of actors in this were from 'the wire'. just read reapers review lol
