Kiper's mock -- 1-16

I'm not wild over Sanchez, but Kiper probably knows more than I do. IMO, you take BPA in the top 5, if not top 10. I think DE is our biggest need, but that would be a huge reach at #3 overall, and can probably be addressed in Rd 2.

1.Detroit Matthew Stafford QB Georgia
2 St. Louis Andre Smith OT Alabama
3 Kansas City Mark Sanchez QB USC
4 Seattle Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech
5 Cleveland Aaron Curry LB Wake Forest
6 Cincinnati Jason Smith OT Baylor
7 Oakland Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri
8 Jacksonville Eugene Monroe OT Virginia
9 Green Bay Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio St.
10 San Francisco Aaron Maybin DE/OLB Penn St.
11 Buffalo Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma St.
12 Denver B.J. Raji DT Boston College
13 Washington Brian Orakpo DE Texas
14 New Orleans Vontae Davis CB Illinois
15 Houston Everette Brown DE Florida St.
16 San Diego Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia

Mark my words. That will NOT happen. No way in hell the Chiefs dedicate that much money to TWO positions on the o-line. No way, no how.

Only on Chiefsplanet could Mark Sanchez losing 1 game, and having a 34-10 TD-INT number be considered a disappointing season..I swear some people say the dumbest things.

Also I'm sorry Big 12 homerism the Chiefs should not in any way be considering Michael Crabtree.

Michael Crabtree is Dwayne Bowe with slightly better hands.....

That's why this team shouldn't be looking at him, if he was the elite Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson or Calvin Johnson level ok different situation then.

I should probably throw Moss up there since he was really the platinum ultimate standard for grading a WR on talent, his character concerns dropped him but his pick likely goes down as one of the biggest steals in modern draft history..every single team that passed on him should kick themselves to this day.

Stafford looks legit, but I get the feeling some people want a quarterback just for the sake of drafting a quarterback. I agree with Pete Carroll that Sanchez shouldn't have come out yet.

I agree with you on the Crabtree assessment. IMO Maclin would be a much better compliment to Bowe than Crabtree. I am in now way, shape or form suggesting drafting Maclin with our pick, but feel his speed would be a better fit than Crabtree.

I am not big on Sanchez or Stafford. Of the two, I like Stafford better and if QB is the route Pioli goes I trust his judgment until he starts reminding me of Carl(likely never).

Like who? Have you looked at the eligible free agents? I'd say there are two guys the Chiefs might target and both are guards, Jahri Evans and Jason Brown.

There is no long term solution at right tackle or center. They'll need to come from the draft.

Yeah, because you watched him progress for four years at USC?

I'd wager that you've seen him play in ONE game, tops.

FWIW, I talked to a pretty powerful booster at a party last night who told me that Carroll is pissed because he wanted the National Championship this year and none of his QB's are even close to being as good as Sanchez. Especially since they're losing so many defensive players.

Dane, I understand that Sanchez was your guy at USC, but there's good reason to be leery of him.

I have looked at the free agents, and there were several good names out there. Who knows if those guys will resign with their current team. I don't think anybody can say for sure who the Chiefs might try to sign.

I choose to believe Pete Carroll when he says Sanchez doesn't have enough experience. I think USC loses too many key defensive players to win a national title next year, even if Sanchez had returned. If Carroll is nervous about having a new starting QB next year, than every coach in America who has a new starting QB should be terribly frightened.
