Road to repeat in the AFC West

Road to repeat in the AFC West

The Chiefs’ 2011 schedule presents plenty of stumbling blocks to another division title.

Division teams
(will play home and away)

•Denver (4-12)

•Oakland (8-8)

•San Diego (9-7)

The skinny: The Chiefs were 2-4 in the division in 2010 and were outscored 154-90. They were blown out at Denver (49-29) and San Diego (31-0) and at home against Oakland (31-10) in the season finale, their

second loss to the Raiders.

Playoff teams
•at Chicago (11-5)

•Green Bay (10-6)

•at Indianapolis (10-6)

•at New England (14-2)

•at New York Jets (11-5)

•Pittsburgh (12-4)

The skinny: The Chiefs beat only one playoff team in 2010, Seattle, which finished the regular season 7-9. In 2010, the Chiefs lost 19-9 at Indianapolis but did not play the other five.

OTHER OPPONENTS
•Buffalo (4-12)

•at Detroit (6-10)

•Miami (7-9)

•Minnesota (6-10)

The skinny:The Chiefs needed all 15 minutes of overtime to beat the Bills 13-10 this season and did not play the other three teams. KC has a winning overall record against the Vikings and Lions but a losing record against the Dolphins.

Exactly... plus the AFCE gets the AFCW and NFCE, that adds in KC, NYG, PHI... for the Bills.

Panthers get NFCN and AFCS - it's just a bit ugly for these teams because of the rotation.

I found this --> http://www.scgffl.com/nfl_schedules/2011_nfl_sched.htm

If we want to take the next step forward, Clark will need to finally open the checkbook and fill some holes through free agency.

The draft is obviously needed to build a core, but we can't count on filling every need with rookies.

Yep, it is hard to have the weakest team on your schedule, when it is you. They are all tough.

Considering the Chargers usually lose to shitty teams, and can beat good teams, I think they'll be decent next year.

It will be back to the AFC Worst though, ****.

I can't remember when the Chiefs played the Patriots in KC. Seems we always end up going there.

I think we finish 10-6 and win the AFC West again next year. Cassel blows but we got a damn good team in the works folks.

Will be tough to do.

Off season moves are vital, as of now we just can't tell since so much is up in the air unanswered.

A ton depends on how the schedule falls. In other words--when San Diego plays it's toughest games. If they play them in the back half of the season, they're cooked because they'll do their choke routine, regardless of the opponent for the first half of the year and lose just enough at the back end of the year to make a repeat of this year. At that point, the AFC west goes to the Chiefs or Raiders in all probability.

Due to the similar schedules, I like our chances...but there's no question we have to at least beat two division opponents on the road to make it easier on ourselves in addition to winning out at home within our division.

Not worried. I like our schedule . If we don't finish 1st in the division then we don't deserve another shot in the playoffs anyway. To be the best you have to beat the best . Right.
This. NFC West ain't got nothin' on us.

Homer, much? I'm going with 8-8. That could go up, depending on who they draft.
