I feel so sorry for Croyle

This guy is in a bad situation and won't be able to develop with these coaches.

I sense you are skeptical, Mr. Baby Lee. But, I remain convinced that Brodie has what it takes. He hasn't done or not done anything that would cause me to doubt that belief. On the other hand, I don't see us going for the throat of the enemy, taking shots into the endzone, or using his arm to stretch defenses vertically. It looks as though we only had a couple of deep pass plays today, for example.

Herm is always saying that he wants to scheme to the strengths of his players. If he doesn't start allowing Brodie to play his game, I will be compelled to call bullsh*t on Herm once again. We have stalled out enough in the red zone for one year. And, calling three consecutive draws on 1st and 20 is tiresome for everybody.

We have to realize that it will take time for Croyle to develop. We've already wasted some of that time. Holding him back will only prolong the process.

Having a big arm is very nice - but the fact is that virtually every time we try to throw deep Croyle either gets sacked or is forced to run.

The strengths of the players includes the right tackle.

I understand what you're saying, Mr. Zouk. This has been discussed ad nauseum, but Croyle put up big numbers at Bama with a bunch of wheelchair bound old ladies for an offensive line. He doesn't need all day in the pocket. He needs receivers who can catch.

Well stated. Croyle had Raiders in his face most of the day (McIntosh looked utterly foolish), yet he was able to avoid sacks and make some good throws. Many times, there were Raiders in the backfield before Croyle had even handed off.

I can't remember which quarter (2nd?), but the Chiefs were driving in Raider territory. They then got called for false start (in OUR stadium!), then holding, then Smith dropped two consecutive well-thrown passes. Had to punt again. I really felt sorry for Croyle at that point...

If there's one aspect that encapsulates the unease I'm trying to convey, it's the razor's edge he and Bowe are playing on sideline plays.
The TD last week and another out route this week depended heavily on Bowe being lanky and poised enough to pull down a ball and JUST get his feet in [in the former, with the ball between his knees]. And it's not in the 'we meant to do that' grace of a Bruce, Ocho-Cinco or Owens sideline route, but more of an 'oh crap, how do I haul that thing in' sense of desperate athleticism on the part of Bowe.

Ah. I'm beginning to understand your concern. Thanks for clarifying. I think the thing you have to remember is that Croyle didn't break all those records at Bama by accident. Not only that, but he accomplished it in spite of his teammates - not because of them. Now, if Bowe were a dwarf and Brodie was overthrowing him by 30 feet, I think we'd have reason for concern. As it is, you're describing a play. A guy threw it and a guy caught it.

I have infinite respect for your football acumen, Mr. Baby Lee. But look. We have an idiot head coach who thinks he knows what's best for Croyle. He'll hold him back and drive the fear of turnovers into his mind because he thinks that's what a head coach should do. This will screw with Brodie's head. We have a rookie wide receiver and (for all intents and purposes) a rookie quarterback. It will take them time to sync up (assuming they ever do). In the meantime, if you're expecting every pass play to be a thing of beauty, your expectations may be a little higher than Downfield's passes to Gonzo over the middle.

Trust me. Croyle knows how to deliver the football. If he can learn how to read defenses, accustom himself to NFL game speed, and find receivers he can trust and rely upon, he will move miles of chain, score actual touchdowns, and sport a passer rating Len Dawson would be proud of.

exactly, notice how once we started to mix the run up with the pass, we started moving the ball with ease?

We cant keep doing the 'run run pass' on ever single possession we have. That has been the killer on offense. the lack of creativity with the OC coaching staff.

They just need to let the guy play, dont hold him back, we are obviously not going to be playing for this years superbowl anyways. We have nothing to lose, for **** sakes, we;ve lost 4 home games this year...The last time that happened in KC was 2001, we went 6-10 that year. I honestly dont think we are better than that this year.
