Naked w/out a knife
So i lost my Gunsite II in the drink over the weekend. now everytime i need it my hand reaches and its like a lost a friend.
So im in the hunt for a new tatical folder or auto under $200.00. Needs to be a no bullshit knife.
I want a microtech but 500$ is outa my budget. Anyone know anything about protech autos.
Help save MOs back so he doesnt have to sit on this all day....

i am kinda leaning towards the benchmade 890 torrent. i like a big blade and it looks slick.

After having a bunch of auto-assists, I hate going back to a thumb-stud opener. I've got a Benchmade Mini Auto Stryker 9500 S. It's a little smaller, and has auto-assist open. But it's got the same blade design with jimping. I like the thinner, lighter knives personally. But I've got smaller hands than most. The thicker rounder designs like the torrent just don't fit as well for me.

I didn't mean that in a negative way really. The criticism I'd have for the 890 Torrent might not bother you at all. I'm not a fan of the rounded handle profile, but that has more to do with the way they fit in my hand. I don't really like the clip on it. It's not reversible. And it's a point down clip. I don't like the Benchmade point down clips. They just don't seem to fit right in the pocket for me. Seems slower. I'd also prefer the auto to the thumb stud opening too. I like some jimping on the blade too.

It would be a tough and rugged knife tough. The steel butt tip is really nice. I wish more blades had that.

I'm not trying to talk you out of it. Just wanted to explain what I'd look for. You probably have different preferences.

Took this bad boy out in to the wet Juniper scrub yesterday; cut through that shit better than my STIHL pruner or any long blade machete I've ever used in the field.
