Is this the year that Dorsey gets his shit together?

Grunting, sweating, screaming in a weight room is where you can find Glenn Dorsey, he has been working real hard in the offseason trying to overcome of whispers of "bust"
"I don't even want to hear that word, Yes I know I sucked balls last year, but I am ready to get my shit together. Amongst the fans and people at LSU Dorsey's nickname Was the Flying turkey for his ability to run across roads in central missouri. Taking 1st overall by the chiefs was a gamble, but a gamble that hasn't paid off yet. "We were going to take a football player" said clark hunt "One that's main job is to bring a person with a football in his hands to the ground causing the referee to blow the whistle" Warroom experts were there when dorey was taken. "we liked the fact that he played football" they said. Now a new D line coach should really help him. The new Dline coach will be working with dorsey to play football well. And that is going to help him get his shit together...

Yeah, but before he can really play football he needs to take a couple snaps and really give it 110% because right now he's one of the worst DT I've ever watched. You'd think a No. 1 overall pick would be better than Ryan Sims!

Glen Dorsey has to pull one pant leg on after the other just like everyone else. Once he does that successfully a few times, he really has a chance to shine.

You mean the season where he put up about the same numbers as Albert Haynesworth and Warren Sapp in their rookie seasons? With all that talent elsewhere on the defense to take pressure off him?

Name me a DT who came in and dominated in his rookie season. Please.

Yeah, but it's not just about the game with Glenn. It's in his head. You'd think a guy with his kinda talent and love for the game would be in there 24/7 busting down tape and making sure he gave 110% for the team. But he must have a bust/loser mentality because he shoulda been a monster last year, and he even had one of the better motivational coaches in Herm to light a fire.

But some people don't want their fire lit, they just want a paycheck.

He really needs veteran DL help, so those guys can show him the ropes and the Chiefs can groom their defensive linemen instead of drafting guys who can't play football.

Yeah, and if you draft guys that can't play football, you'll need to bring in veteran DL-men to take the spot of those said guys, so doesn't it just make more sense to forgo the drafting of guys that can't play football, and just bring in vets to teach Dorsey how to not be one of those guys that can't play football and become a veteran that can help the younger players progress?

Dorsey is nowhere near a bust, D-lineman VERY rarely come in and tear up the league the first year. If you still consider Dosrsey a bust, then Haynesworth and Sapp were ven bigger busts since Dorsey out performed their rookie years. Stats below are from ESPN to prove the point.

Dorsey

YEAR TEAM G TOT SOLO AST PD SACK FF
2008 KAN 16 46 32 14 1 1.0 1

Haynesworth

YEAR TEAM G TOT SOLO AST PD SACK FF
2002 TEN 16 30 21 9 3 1.0 0

Sapp

YEAR TEAM G TOT SOLO AST PD SACK FF
1995 TAM 16 26 16 10 5 3.0 1

GO CHIEFS.

Yeah, but if you adjust those stats for defensive inflation for the year 2008, then it's obvious Dorsey underachieved.

He needs to put his pants on one leg at a time, then lace his cleats up like every other player in that locker-room. Tighten down his belt and realize he's not some superstar just because he was the No. 1 overall pick; and if he wants to be a football player then he has to put on the pads and strap on the helmet. And after he does that, he better put in his mouthpiece and get ready to have a nonstop motor between the hashmarks.

Dorsey/Jackson combo will be a destructive dominating force to be reckoned with. BOTH will be All pros this year.

Dorsey needs to get with Krummie during camp and work on staying low at the point of attack and driving his hips upwards through the blocker. If Glen can use his hips to shed that 1st guy and get up field before the center slides over to double him, I think he'll have greater success.

Maybe a guy like Biesel can sneak some Disturbed - Indestuctible onto Dorsey ipod and we can all watch him explode on Sunday's.

Dorsey is good at stopping the run, hes quick and explosive. Plus he has long arms which is the main plus of being tall is in the first place. Dwight Freeney is too short to be a 4-3 DE but he pulls it off well, Dorsey COULD end up the same way in the 3-4. Don't get me wrong hes a natural UT, but I would rather him line up at DE than at NT like last year. Honestly Herms **** up of him being NT might help him be a better 3-4 DE though.

I'm tired of all this 3-4, 4-3 talk.

Haley needs to run a 1-6 and let Glen figure it out on his own. Either he'll produce or he'll continue being the bust he's been his whole career. We need veteran leadership. We need Dorsey to take on 5 blockers; because if he doesn't then it's pretty clear we just wasted a lot of money and time on a guy who doesn't play to win the game.
