Chiefs Work Out 3 D-Linemen

Rotoworld:

William Joseph-DL- Raiders Oct. 10 - 6:53 pm et

The Chiefs recently worked out William Joseph, Tim Anderson and Marlon Favorite, according to Brad Biggs of the National Football Post.
They're all interior defensive linemen. Coach Todd Haley is on a quest to find some guys that can actually play.

OK, I'm all for not standing pat when your team is losing, so keep shaking the trees to see if something competent falls out. That's one view.

The other side, and a troubling one, is if guys are on the beach but getting tryouts, what does that say for the current drafted players on the roster? It says this is a bad team as currently constructed and one that continues to reach for answers.

This article fails to take into account the fact that those teams had existing talent and weren't far removed from the playoffs.

The Chiefs have been to the playoffs twice since 1997. TWICE.

Every team you listed there has been to the playoffs recently, some of them to Championship Games and some to the Super Bowl.

It's an extremely flawed argument in relation to the Chiefs.

NO ONE.

The problem is that 8 months have now passed, an entire draft was wasted, and entire free-agency period came and went and this team has not improved in ANY area over last year.

As a matter of fact, they've taken a few steps backwards, which is something that I was told (as were many others) would be IMPOSSIBLE.

Yet, it's happened. And like a ****ing moron, you're defending those very same people that have taken the Chiefs to even deeper depths of SUCKAGE.

sad isn't it

Yes, the Chiefs create a new level of suckage. Haven't won a playoff game since Jan 1994 with a broken down Joe Montana. Never would have guessed it. So close...yet so far. Sad the teams that have won in the playoffs since then. Always believed the Chiefs were so much better than so many of them.
Hopefully we are on the right path, but I do agree with you, I think we have actually gone backwards this year.

Sometimes in rebuilding you have to go backwards before you can go forward. It is much too early in this rebuild to pronounce it a failure.

Maybe Poili and Haley didn't realize that the time for bringing in players was in the OFF SEASON...

I know bringing in players is part of the rebuilding process, but it it doesn't look like you really did that great of a job evaluating talent all offseason, when you bring in a WR and a TE and they practice for a week, and go out and lead the team in receptions their first game.

Tim Anderson is ****ing awful, he has little bitty short arms like T-Rex the Bills used a 3rd round pick on him because he was good at Krumrie's slap fight drill.

...****, I forgot about that guy. I remember there were rumors of him coming here a year or two ago.

Really?

A team that is close to 6-30 that actually goes backwards to what? 0-16 with the same GM & HC that actually moves forward?

Can you provide an NFL example? Not lip service but a real world example?

Thanks in advance!

I really wouldn't mind Joseph. I mean would it really be bad to replace Ron Edwards with a former first rounder from the GIANTS who could still be with them if he hadn't gotten hurt?

We have a new GM and head coach, so I don't know where your "same GM & HC" comes from. There is plenty of precedent for a new GM and head coach doing worse their first year than the year before, but going on to win a SB (or more).

1988 Dallas Cowboys 3-13. 1989 Dallas Cowboys with new owner and coach 1-15.

1968 Pittsburg Steelers 2-11. 1969 Pittsburg Steelers, new head coach 1-13.

Both new coaches went on to win multiple SBs.
