Never too early: A first look at the first round of the 2011 NFL draft

The 2010 NFL draft is done, and while the grades and predictions of greatness are still coming in, we've begun looking forward. Using this year's draft order, here's our first stab at next year's first round. The first pick comes from a group of eight worthy candidates.

It's amazing that after watching the team the past two seasons that some people are actually okay with the line play.

At least we got playmakers this last draft. If our line ends up giving up a huge amount of sacks, pressures, hits and penalties, then at least we know that it's not the "skill" positions fault.

They've said that Albert needs to be given time to develop, and, in spite your stupid takes, hoswe improvement in the latter stages of the season.

They've also said that we do need ot fix the line, but we don't have to do it with first rounders.

And they also recognize that a college LT getting pushed staight back into the QB is not "sealing the edge" like you moronic self seems to think.

If so, that would be a mistake.

The guy is a ten year left guard, not a true center.

He mentioned that Asamoah was the emergency center at Illinois and could have done that if they had needed him to. There was not a mention of him being in the discussion for being a center here.

He's brought it up several times in different interviews. I don't know why he would keep bringing it up if they weren't at least considering giving him a shot there until he can take over for Waters.

I expect Asamoah to be the starter at right guard for the next decade. Here is some good stuff on the kid:

Despite the team's erratic offensive showing the last two seasons Asamoah was a model of consistency. In his last 24 games, he registered 187 knockdowns/key blocks, adding 24 touchdown-resulting blocks and 12 downfield blocks. One of the elite pass protectors at his position, he allowed only four quarterback sacks and four pressures on 724 pass plays since the beginning of his junior campaign.

They had Asamoah working both guard and center during the rookie camp. I think he has very good starting guard qualities, but could be a serviceable center if need be.
