I hear a loud car, and I assume they lost their muffler. I have a few male friends who say it sounds sweet. I guess I haven't listened to enough cars to know that difference, but I find it annoying either way. Is it cool to have your little car sound like some big truck? Or is it more of a higher pitch that makes it sound cool?

A majority of the time, it's annoying. There are times when it's cool. I guess you can't just turn the noise on and off though.

Just wondering what the appeal is. I'm sorry if you're reading this as me looking for some kind of validation. In the OP, I said it was annoying and asked what made it cool.

Actually it can be if someone is willing to go to the expense of installing cutouts.

My car on the street - sounds a bit different, if you can hear the KAKAKAKAKA thats the open wastegate

for info - my car is a 2.0 4 cylinder turbo, full 3 inch all the way back, no cats, and it sounds far different than most 4 cylinder becuase of both the boxer motor configuration, and the fact that it has unequal length headers. Subie rumble ftw.

No cats? You put the cats back on when you need to smog it or something?

I went with a metallic race cat for my setup...I don't need sparks shooting out of my exhaust.
