You can draft and sign 21 players that elevate the play of the QB, or you can draft a franchsie QB that can elevate the play of the team around him.

Do watch the Packers play ever? Their oline is worse than ours but Rodgers is a bad ass and makes them look good because he's a great QB. It's all about the QB.

no excuses for Cassel

but what the **** was he supposed to do today?

our team is built to have our defense win games

our defense and scheme was terrible

and to boot...our offensive playcalling was flat out atrocious

and our line was unbelievably bad

so blaming everything on Cassel is just dumb

It's hard to say. Our o-line was bad, but Miami was blitzing all day.

Try throwing a blitz on Brady. He's going to carve you up all day long.

I wonder how much of our problem would be fixed by a QB who was consistent at spotting the hot route. One of the reasons Brady doesn't get touched nearly as much is because defenses are afraid to throw pressure at him.

We were completely dominated in every aspect of the game.

By a winless team.

I'm looking forward to next week, though. We're going to send Tebow to his maker.

Here's what I'll say: If you say that a team all-out blitzing Cassel removes him from responsibility for his poor performance, fine. But other teams will all-out blitz every game, and Cassel will never be held responsible. If blitzing was so effective that a QB absolutely shut down the way Cassel did today, it'd be done every play, every single day. Good QBs LOVE blitzing, as it's an invitation for huge yardage. Cassel continually showed little to no mental fortitude. He didn't call many audibles (that I could tell), he didn't put his head up after avoiding a sack, he didn't take appropriate opportunities to throw it away, and most importantly didn't show more composure when he knew they'd start blitzing consistently.

Had Cassel played our defense today he would have ripped it up. No pressure, wide open receivers all day.

KC defense made Moore look awesome, not like he was making miraculous plays.

These two statements are contradictory.

Ever stop to think that with real QB play, the defenses wouldn't have to exhaust themselves to protect our QB from his consistent 3 and outs?

Completely agree.

But, guess what? That is about 80% of the QB's in the league.

He is just an average QB. That is what he is. To expect more is dumb on our part.

I would love to get a top 5 QB. That isn't happening anytime soon. Maybe next offseason, but I doubt it.

The reality is that with decent offensive line play, decent defense and WR's that didn't drop the ball or fail to adjust to the ball...

The Chiefs win.

That's a key point, in my view, Mr. Stanley Nickles.

We can expect a ton of blitzing from now on.

And some really, really high throws.

I almost feel sorry for Cassel.
