I'm still waiting for someone to randomly start an Ed Wood thread.

Dunno. The Clue movie from the 80s is pretty funny.

Wait, that's Tim Curry. Never mind.

I've always been a big fan of Tim Burton. Nightmare Before Christmas sealed the deal a long time ago.
You're aware he didn't direct Nightmare, right? Burton wrote and produced. Really, Nightmare is Danny Elfman's masterpiece/accomplishment. Elfman did the music AND played Jack.

That's a fair statement.... 15 years ago. Really, he started tanking with Sleepy Hollow. Aside from Big Fish, he's done mostly crap on top of crap. Big Fish aside, it's my estimation he hasn't been good in almost 20 years.

Dark Shadows - Haven't seen it

Alice in Wonderland - Garbage.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street - Meh, at best.

Corpse Bride - Crap.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Giant pile of crap.

Big Fish - Excellent work, made me hopeful for the return of the early '90s Tim Burton.

Planet of the Apes - Such crap, he should have been strung up for it.

Sleepy Hollow - Meh.

Mars Attacks! - Not a fan, but I know lots who are.

Ed Wood - Masterpiece.

Batman Returns - Meh.

Edward Scissorhands - Out-friggin'-standing.

Batman - Excellent.

Beetlejuice - Great.

Pee-wee's Big Adventure - At the time, brilliant.

Aside from the film Ed Wood, have you ever watched any of his movies? I went through a phase where I watched a ton of his stuff. Really, really awful stuff, but there's something innocent and endearing about his work.

I like all those up to Planet of the Apes. I like Sleepy Hollow more than you I guess.

Im looking forward to his update of Frankenweenie. I loved Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline.

Sleepy Hollow was the beginning of the end for me. It wasn't bad like many of his films since, but it was below par for the director that gave us Edward Scissorhands and Ed Wood.

The short he did for Frankenweenie, which I think is what won him the job for Pee-wee, was brilliant. Not sure if it can withstand a feature, though.

Burton is a lot like Oliver Stone, in my opinion. I keep watching their new films hoping against hope that they'll return to form.

And for my knowledge and the future of this thread, are we talking about Burton as a writer, director or producer or all? Again, he didn't direct Nightmare or Coraline.

I like Corpse Bride, but agree that the majority of what he's done in the last 15 years is completely over-rated junk.
