I'm astonished. This thread-locking behavior is unlike that we have come to expect from our fabulously talented mods.
Nevertheless, it provided an opportunity for you to turn attention back to your own glorious self, Mr. jwhit, so there is that ... As for Pioli, what more need to be said? Pioli has never beaten the Faiders at Arrowhead. Our arch-rivals now own our ass and the keys to our home field. We are once again the laughing stock of the NFL and are establishing records that are, in the era of parity, supposedly impossible to achieve. Still, it is puzzling how supportive the fans continue to be under the circumstances. Most Chiefs fans would never give an alcoholic a drink or prep a hit for a junkie. Yet they are serial enablers when it comes to Pioli and Clark. Every ticket sold is another reinforcement that the FO can get away with running this franchise into oblivion along with themselves. Intervention is what's needed. If Pioli wants to destroy himself, let him do it elsewhere. I don't want to watch. FAX |

Thanks Jason! I agree, most all of us were excited about the hire. Also, I agree with you that Hunt has given Pioli all he needs. He is just not very good at his job. Yep, Hunt seems to be complicit in some of the stuff going on inside the FO, but I see that as supporting his GM.
Doubt if you have the means of doing this, but I'd like to know where Haley and Pioli differed over personnel issues. Is it possible that Haley is a better scout and really wanted better players. Haley could have been a much improved coach were a few different choices made. Oh!!! Thanks for your support! |

jwhit- I bumped that old thread. I thought it contained a really interesting perspective, in hindsight, of how even Pioli's most vociferous of critics was initially highly supportive of his signing. I think it only validates your story of "the dinner", as you clearly didn't show any ill-will from the get-go and were simply looking for a reason to dislike the guy. And, further, I think you're right to say that Clark DID make every attempt to put this franchise in a great position to win.
I wanted to say all of those things, but I didn't. Instead, I bumped it with "LOL", as if I was a child poking fun at you for once believing in Pioli, like you should've portended the rise of Egoli, or have seen through what was inarguably the best resume--ON PAPER-- of any GM candidate. It really was a poor way to bump a nearly four year-old thread, and I don't really blame the mods for the lock. But I'm glad you brought it up. It is a MAJOR sign of integrity and self-respect to allow and encourage others to critique your work, because that is the most effective way to critique, and therefore improve, yourself. So, much respect to you for that.

I look at this article and think about how great things seemed when we got Pioli. At the time, he was the best money could buy. Now I think about how fans think Marc Ross or Bill Cowher are probably the greatest canidates right now. The truth is that they could bomb just as bad. Hell, Geno Smith could bomb.
If there is one thing we should learn from all of this it's that nothing is guaranteed in this business. Not Pioli Not Eric Winston Not Eric Berry The smartest thing we can do as fans is keep our expectations low with the future hirings, signings, and draft picks imo. |
