I couldn't get out of Spokane fast enough. Not a lot to offer IMO. Just a blah feeling and mediocre kind of town. Granted, I was going to school there with a very limited income, but I had no desire to stay even though I had multiple job offers before graduation.

Seeing as how most accidents happen within ten miles of your house, I'd say moving anywhere is a step in the right direction.

Lots of things to consider. First, can you get a job there or are you retired? Is weather high on your list? What about having access to healthcare if you are older, things to do or do you value land and space?

31, in a field where getting a job shouldn't be too hard, and land & space isn't exactly a priority.

We went with a top 3 most important when deciding where to live and it went....#1 no snow, #2 low cost of living, #3 larger city. I could get a job anywhere so that didn't factor into our decision like it won't factor into yours.

We landed on Phoenix for these reasons.

All the best. Finding somewhere new to live is really awesome. Keep us posted!

Hey thanks, I will for sure!

How do you like Phoenix? My dad has a buddy that used to live there and loved it, only moved back to MO because he retired and wanted to be closer to grandchildren. I've heard a ton of good stuff about PHX though...

You either hate it or you love it because the weather is on the extreme obviously. 4 super hot months with very little break and 8 months of beautiful weather. That sold me. And the hot days you find a pool or stay inside. It does nothing to mess up my commute like snow though!

Tons to do and all 4 professional teams. Very low cost of living. It doesn't have a big city feel because it is so spread out so traffic is pretty good most of the time. You do have to get used to driving though and the miles on your car add up quick. People seem to kind of stick to themselves which you can see as either good or bad.

But we love it here and are not leaving for a very long time.

Move to a state that does NOT have a state income tax. If I made the same money and lived in Texas or Florida, it be like getting a $5000 a year raise.

No offense to my CP bretheren, but moving is the sort of decision that should be based on more than strangers' advice. There's been some decent info given in this thread, but just because I or another poster loves a city is no guarantee that you would too.

Rank the factors that are important to you in a place to live (weather, cost of living, proximity to family, job market, etc) and see if you can find a city that has the best combination. As Rain Man's "coolest cities" ranking indicates, there are city rankings for just about anything. Leverage those to help you in your decision.

Right I wouldn't base my decision off of anything here...just looking for people's experiences in other places...all the info I can get helps in one way or another.

If you can get over the Donkey love, then Colorado Springs is pretty nice. Tons to do and the city's not too big.

Been there a few times, sorry, but I have to disagree... My brother that lives there even says "military and meth heads" I've visited south Denver a lot as well, much better crowd in my opinion. Also have a brother in Durango co, that is a fun little town, but expensive

I've always thought Pensacola Florida would be perfect... you get the beautiful beaches/beach culture/outdoor activities, but in a city of 50k, big enough to have all the things you want without all of the big city BS.

Check the which state would you live in thread. 1000's of posts. Just recently fell off the front page.
