Was Hill's pass the worst call of Reid's career?

So let me get this straight...you have all the momentum against the #1 ranked defense and are up 2 scores in the 1st quarter. You call a time out and proceed to have a WR throw into compressed coverage?

What the **** was Reid's thought process here? You have two MVP candidates on your offense...and that's the brilliant plan? A simple FG puts you up 3 scores.

It completely changed the flow of the game...for no reason.

I understood the Poe pass...it was late and the game was in control but there were 3 quarters of the game left tonight.

Even if it had worked...it was still a terrible call...especially at the particular juncture in the game.

I haven't seen every game AR has ever coached but this HAS to be up there as one of the worst...I think everyone across the country was collectively saying "What the **** was that"...My eye literally twitched after that play call.

Just curious.....

When do you think a good time to call a play like that is?

How about never? Especially when your about to put the hammer down baby...

Reid just cant help himself... Its like putting an ex-lax chocolate cake in front of Fat Andy, TELLING HIM that is LOADED with chocolate ex-lax. Hes gonna crush that mother ****er like a boss... Same with his play calling.. Youre crushing Denver moving vertically down the field. Lets stop that inside the 5 with classic Fat Andy horizontal shit.

HOW many times have we seen goal to go situations just implode under Fat Andy?

What are the chances we see that play again?

I’m not sure it’s been mentioned yet in this thread, but is it not a little concerning that the “trick” play was so well-telegraphed that Gruden saw the formation and said “halfback pass”? Call me crazy but the entire execution and subterfuge around this seemed a little lacking.

If he called this in the fourth quarter because we’re in control and he wanted to embarrass Denver, I’m totally onboard. But not when the game is still in question, momentum is on our side, and we’re moving the ball.

Gruden saw them practicing that play during the week, that's why he stated that. You guys jump on Andy that its a bad play call (though Andy isnt calling the plays, Nagy is).. Hill lobs that pass to back of endzone its a easy TD. there were NO defenders near Travis... he had to STOP and come back to the ball.

He intentionally called that play TO embarrass them on prime time...maybe he learned a bit about hubris after that one.

Had this cost KC the game...I doubt anyone would be defending this mind-numbingly stupid playcall. Chiefs were lucky that it didn't come back on them...it gave them hope and they drove right down the field afterwords..

It wasn't worth the risk/momentum shift...

After you've actually run the sweep with Hill multiple times in the game so defenders actually step up to defend it instead of falling back into coverage.

Reid always tries to get cute. the only time something like that should happen is in a blowout LATE in the game, not early in the game. It was just a stupid playcall. The Risk was not vs the Reward at that point in the game.

This play was ****ing terrible. The good news is that we never have to see it again. Also, running Hunt into the ground at the end of the game made no sense. That's what West and Hunt 2 are for!!
