Off-Season : Wish List FA & Draft

I wanted to start a thread were we can all discuss exactly who we should target, and thoughts about fixing defense.

So here is how I want thread format to go:

Pick Top Two FA's & Top Two Draft Prospects you would like! and explain why!

Free Agency

http://nfltraderumors.co/top-25-2019...e-agents-list/
Here1

here2

Draft
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospect-rankings/
here3

here4

here5

For me it's the following:

Free Agents :

C.J. Mosely

Ronald Darby

I like the physical nature of both of these players, I believe C.J. Mosely can deliver a run stopping thumb by shooting the gaps, and Darby can provide good run support and great bump and run coverage in man.

Draft Prospects :
Deionte Thompson

I think this kid would be a natural replacement for Berry, and teaming him up with Armani Watt's by having him play SS while Watt's plays FS would be a great combo.

Jerry Tillery
I want some more beef on the D-Line, I think Jerry could play at 315+ and still be able to move. I think he would be perfect for filling gaps and taking on double teams.

I know these guys would need to drop for us to have a chance, hence why its a wishlist.

2nd round 2: finish out the trio of targets
Ford pick: RB1 or DE that fits scheme

Use cap space to add a solid 43 LE and Earl Thomas (or one of the many other quality S available).

Cut Barry and Sorenson. Cut Houston or move him to RE if you think he can handle it.
I highly doubt that they spend a high draft pick on ILB since they spent big on Hitchens and if I remember correctly Ragland recently renewed his contract? I could be making that up in my head of course.

Tagging and trading Ford isn't as easy as that, plus you aren't going to get a high draft pick for him since he would be on a franchise tag, so I think a second rounder for him is wishful thinking.

How they handle Houston coming up will be really interesting. I am sure they are going to try and restructure his contract, hopefully he will accept that.
Not sure if he is big enough to handle the RE position but the man is freak and is probably strong enough to handle himself fine there; at least I wouldn't put it past him.

Berry isn't going to be cut this off-season, I don't think. The Chiefs are going to do everything they can for that man and hopefully off-season surgery helps and we get a full season out of him and he is back to being one of the best safeties in the game.

No friggin' way....

We'd be much better off getting Clark to swallow his pride, and give Kareem a second chance....before bringing back Peters--he was inconsistent, a prima-donna, underachieving non-tackling over-paid phenom who was high risk, high reward. No thanks...with Kareem, he's young enough that he's deserving of a second chance.

There were games where Ford was just about unstoppable. I think we’ll still have a need for someone like that.

Cut Barry and Sorenson. Cut Houston or move him to RE if you think he can handle it.

I just want a DC that believes in pressure on the QB & the WR’s. I loved the Bears 46 defense because of that. I believe a team with a great offense should have a defense that gambles a lot. Why let a team like the Patriots take 8 minutes off the clock, when applying some pressure would allow them to get the ball back faster. Blitz, man to man press coverage...make the other team feel the heat.

Agree on Ford. Tag him & listen to offers. If nothing looks good let him play to see if he can get better next season.

Cut Berry. Houston & Sorenson.

Draft positions of need ILB, Safety, Corner, RB & TE.

Sign free agents: Earl Thomas if healthy, Kareem Jackson & Frank Clark.

Fair enough. I’d take a 3rd and the cap relief for Ford, too. Especially if they’re going 43.

Houston is big enough to hold up at RE in a 43.

Was thinking Hitchens might play SSLB, but the investment in him is a good point. Maybe you shift that pick I had slotted for an ILB to a WLB if the right one falls, or a 43 E.

And I could see the scenario you cast with Berry - sentimentality could definitely play a part there. But based on cold calculation, you’d cut him and move on, all things considered.
