What will you be watching for during the first preseason game?

First and foremost - I think we can agree, NO INJURIES.

On offense:

I think we pretty well know what we're getting with the first team, minus the offensive line. I'd like to see how they play in the series or two they get.

Beyond that, it's all about the depth at every position. How do the rookies look? Is Pringle the next coming of Bobby Sippio?

On defense:

My eyes will be glued on the LBs. The fact that Ragland is slated to start at MLB is not good. I hope someone flashes and takes his spot.

The CB position will have my attention as well. Please don't let Breeland be David Amerson 2.0.

The D line depth will also have my eye. I want to see those 2nd team guys dominate. It'd be nice to see something from K-Pass and Speaks.

Anyway, what will you be watching for?

Don’t really care about in the first pre season game. Everything will be basic. For the fun of I’d say Tremon smith but I’m not sure how much he plays so I’ll say the running backs and obviously the corners but I’m not getting to down or up about anything after this one.

He actually showed promise last year. Just wasn’t used enough or correctly. Would not surprised at all to see him look good in Spags defense. Speaks on the other hand doesn’t seem to have a natural position in any defense. Chiefs spent a 4 on Ragland coming off acl. If they could get a 5-6th for speaks I’d take it. I got respect for any front office that doesn’t keep a guy around just pick of draft position. Unless he can play inside on pass rush and shows more than one move then please try to get a pick and give a roster spot to one the young kids. Sorry went off on a little side rant there.

The offense is going to be the offense, and even if they somehow don't play all that well in the first preseason game, I won't be worried.

I want to see how the front-7 performs against both the run and the pass, though for the first game I'll be happy if we just show a marked improvement against the run.

I also want to see how, if at all, the pass D plays differently than last year. Both individually and as a unit in scheme.

Overall, the important thing defensively (for me) is how they play as a unit. Last year they never looked like a cohesive unit to me; just eleven guys running around completely independently of each other most of the time. I want to see them play as a team, trusting each other and filling in for each other both pre-snap and during the play. I know they won't be able to show that consistently throughout the game, but I want to see more than a few flashes.

I want to see the defense as a group. I know it will take time to develop chemistry but I want to see how they react with a brand new scheme. Is there a shitload of mistakes, have they learned their new responsibilities, etc. I also want to watch the 2nd string o-line to see how they hold up and as a whole how does the Chiefs 2's and 3's hold their own against their 2's and 3's.

Offensive line (center,left guard)
Hardman vs Pringle

Defensive scheme and aggression
Secondary intelligence
safeties cover sideline to sideline?
corners keep up with the receivers(do they look slow?)
Do our linebackers suck?
