CB's are Fuller, Breeland, Ward, Clairborne, & Fenton: must be a trade coming, right?

After the events of today, our CB group is: Kendall Fuller, Bashaud Breeland, Charvarius Ward, Mo Claiborne, & Rashad Fenton. Something BIG has to be brewing. No way we roll into THIS season with this crew. Fingers crossed for some excitement in the next day or so.

The top 3 corners aren’t all that bad IMO.

The depth is where issues could really arise. Plus I’m not sure of Ward’s scheme fit now. He was a long press type it seemed.

I just don’t want to trade for Howard and basically kick Hill or Jones to the curb in the process, AND whatever picks are surrendered.

Or maybe there's more to it than snapping your fingers and finding a pro bowl player on a vet minimum contract.

You can't have a super team in today's NFL anyway. The position isn't that bad. Probably league average. You guys just don't pay attention closely to rosters I guess

I doubt that is true. More likely they are limited by the cap (despite what you may hear, there is a finite amount they can spend each year). Dorsey did an outstanding job, IMO, but he was vilified here for his cap management.

We have some big contracts (and maybe some big personnel decisions!) coming. I would think Veach is balancing the needs in the secondary against expected future resources and has drawn a hard line on what we can afford.

The why did they spend that money on McCoy instead of a CB?

The next response with be; what CB was available for them to spend it on?

My answer; If they really were determined to improve the CB position, to value the CB position then they would have done more at CB during free agency.

I think they have decided that no CB can cover for very long in the current NFL so they are just concentrating on the team elsewhere. On offense, on the pass rush etc.

Both Breeland and Claiborne were brought in this year. It's not like they've done nothing. They were clearly hoping that some of the young guys would pan out, but thus far, it hasn't happened, so we are where we are.

They spent 3 million on Lesean. What kind of cornerback are you getting for 3 million? Please keep in mind the Squeelers just gave Nelson 8 million.
