How do you guys handle robocall?

I receive a lot from healthcare, police, women cancer unit, firefighter, etc calls. Three or four times a day. How do you stop those?

I do not answer any call that does not have a known number

They have another app that's apparently pretty good, but potentially blocks legit calls, too.

I've thought about going as far as 24/7 do not disturb for anyone not in my contacts, but I don't get a ton of garbage... maybe one every few days.

I've started getting texts lately which are a bit creepy, because they call me by name and list my address and act like they're a potential buyer in the area.... I've removed myself from a few of those aggregating websites, but oh well.

The other thought is using a Google number for anything online with a potential of selling your data, much like a junk email.

Short version. Wife got one on her work phone saying she had a drug package in Texas and wanted to know what it was for. Said if she did not cooperate they would send the police to our house.

I heard it, started listening. They wanted her address, SSN etc. She said, if you called me, you should know all of that.

The said the police where on the way. I told them, go ahead, send them. I know the police chief has been to my house and I see the mayor at least once a week. (all true) I am not worried. He and his bad accent hung up.

Why would I ever answer a call from a number I don’t know? They’ll leave a message if it’s legit or important

Legit calls from unknown numbers are pretty rare. But I did have a work contact call me from his wife's phone and I didn't bother with the unknown voice mail until the next day.

I need to answer because of new customers, I don't want them to hang up and try someone else.

T-Mobile's scam warning and the pixel's call screening is a pretty great combo.

I got an "IRS" call a couple of years ago. Some slap dick with a heavy accent, claiming, if I didn't make a payment right now, that him and some other "agents" were going to come over and take me to jail.

I told him to come on over, but make sure to kiss your wife one last time before you do, because you won't be coming home. He hung up.

I had a car warranty guy get pissy with me about a month ago and I told him, listen shit ball, if you keep calling, I won't let your mother suck my dick anymore. I got hung up on again.


The do not call list is useless.

I asked them which car? They asked me, “you don’t which car is yours?” It went like this for a good 20 minutes.

Kids friends were over many years ago, One picked up a call and said "Do you have permission to talk to people under 18? Good. This is a kids phone. Do not call me again"

I've received that call a few times. I alternate between:

"My friends are very concerned about the missing package. I've traced your number and geolocation. One of our people in your country will be in touch to discuss in person."

or

"Wow, that sounds really serious! Hang on just a second, my cousin is an FBI field agent in El Paso, I'm going to bring her in on the call. I'm sure the three of us can get this sorted out."
