Some Things About Today's Game Week 14: KC 48 Convicts 9

Some Things About Today’s Game Week 14: KC 48 Convicts 9

The Raiders are the team I loathe more than any other sporting entity. I hate them more than the Donks. More than the Yanks. More than the 1972 Russian Basketball team. And -even with yesterday’s debacle freshly registered in my soul- even more than the Jayhawks. Why? When I was a boy I saw Ben Davidson cheap shot my hero Lenny Dawson in the back; and my other hero Otis Taylor pull him off Dawson and start wailing on his worthless, cheating ass. The Raiders were dirty. Jack Tatum put a guy in a wheelchair from a dirty hit in a PRESEASON GAME. They’d hit you in the back. They’d dive at the knees. They’d clothesline you five yards out of bounds. They have no real home. They’re nothing more than nomadic felons bouncing from town to town. Their fans are all the dregs and losers of society. The loners, misfits, drifters, malcontents and deadbeats. The kind of people who root for the villain in a melodrama. The kind of people who root for the Nazis in “The Sound of Music.” People with black souls who worship a megalomaniac Bin Laden figure like Al Davis. I hate absolutely everything about them, and I especially hate their fans. Hate. Not dislike. Hate. I don’t apologize for it. The Raiders are all about evil. So much, that they left one of the ugliest, angriest cities in America once for South Central LA -another of the angriest ugliest cities in America- went back to Oakland, and now reside in “Sin City” and play in a stadium called the “Death Star.” There is good and evil in this world. The Raiders are the embodiment of evil and I feel it bone deep.

That said, I have seen every epic battle between the Chiefs and the Faid since 1966. I’ve been at every single contest played between the two in KC. I can say without reservation, except for when we won the first Lamar Hunt trophy two years ago, I’ve never enjoyed a home game more than today’s game. Today’s epic 48-9 beat down -and make no mistake, this was a curb stomp, a bitch slap, a biblical beat down- it was the most lopsided margin of victory in the entire history of these two teams playing one another. A 39 point shellacking that was never at any point even close.

After last year’s ill advised bus victory lap around Arrowhead, the Faid doubled down on poking the bear by dancing on the Arrowhead logo at midfield in their pregame warmups today. The bus victory lap was especially spineless, since Arrowhead was virtually empty because of Covid. Disrespecting your opponent in their house is bad juju and poor sportsmanship. But that’s what the Faid’s constitutional makeup is: Bad juju and poor sportsmanship. It defines their character as an organization. How sweet was it that they puked up the ball on their first play from scrimmage, and go down 7-0 :30 into the game?

I’m not going to talk much on the stat lines except for the important stuff: Chiefs 4 rushing TDs, no turnovers. We showed them our Henne in the fourth quarter. Faid less than 300 yards of total offense, which included only 44 years rushing. Five turnovers. Five. Cinco. Four Ugly Sacks. 4-11 on third down and 85 yards in penalties. The Faid had to settle for a measly field goal to go into the locker room at halftime down 35-3. And when they did manage to score a TD in the third quarter thanks to a penalty fueled drive, they botched the extra point. So for yet another week the Chiefs defense gave up less than double digits.

Mahomes only had four incomplete passes, and hit one of the greatest throws I’ve seen this year, on a third and long scrambling left, then throwing the ball completely cross field to Hill to convert. There’s maybe only two or three other guys in the NFL with the ability to hit that throw. Maybe Rodgers, Herbert and Josh Allen. That’s about it. And Josh Gordon actually made a cameo appearance catching a TD, and looked good doing it.

Mike Hughes had a monster day with eight tackles and a scoop and score. Honey Badger had a pick, and the entire secondary seemed to cover up the loss of Sneed. Okafor got a crushing kill shot on Carr. Buttkicker continues to be money. In every conceivable way, it was our day in the sun.

So since the ugly loss to the Tits, the Chiefs have reeled off six straight wins, setting up the rematch with the Bolts on a Thursday night game. Two things in the Bolts favor is with the short week, Andy won’t have as much time to prepare, and the Bolts get to play at home, at night, on pacific time. At least KC was able to get most of their front line starters out in the early fourth quarter to save a few bumps and bruises. Chris Jones tweaked an ankle, and Bolton had his hand wrapped up, but both will hopefully be OK for Thursday. I really doubt Sneed will be back, but we’ll see. I'd want his head to be in it or else take another week off.

Bengals, Bills and Ravens all lost today. Thursday night game is super important to winning the AFC West. Let’s hope we didn’t leave it all out there today and saved a little for Thursday night. It’s time to see which team is the real deal, as December football determines who plays in January, and who sits on the couch.

Game highlights are here:

Great opening and write up! I wouldn't think Sneed would be there, but if you happened to catch the clip of the Chiefs dancing on the sidelines, I think Jones' ankle is ok. lol Bring on the Bolts!

Nice writeup GB and I'm glad you finally made it to a game after your illness. Hope Mrs Blowfish was there as well.

I hate the Raiders pretty bad as well but it has worn off a little since they suck so bad. Same with the Donkeys.

Somehow it seems the Bills, Ravens and Patriots have replaced the Raiders, Broncos and Chargers as my three most hated teams I like to beat.

Then about the time the plane flew over Stull, Ks the toilets backed up. Getting clearance for an emergency landing in Dodge City, they are forced to spend the night in the Wyatt Earp motel while a repair crew motors over from Wichita.

I really hate the Raiders.

My Ten Most Hated Raiders of all time. In no particular order, I basically loathe all of them. Most are dead now, so I've got that going for me:

John Madden: Fat, slovenly crybaby. Tried to kill Warpaint.

Marv Hubbard: Running back in the 1970s. Hubbard scored 24 touchdowns (23 rushing, 1 passing) during his career, six of which were against his favorite opponent, the formidable Kansas City Chiefs. Hubbard was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated on December 17, 1973 after the Raiders won a pivotal game over the division rival Chiefs. Hubbard kept an enlarged graphic of that magazine cover in his office throughout his post-football career.

Jack Tatum: Safety from the 1970s. Best known for a cheap shot on Patriots wide receiver Darryl Stingley in a 1978 preseason game that paralyzed Stingley from the waist down. Tatum never made any effort to apologize or go see Stingley after the incident.

Ken Stabler: Was the Raider QB during the 1970s. While the Raiders had Stabler and the Chargers had Dan Fouts, KC had Bill Kenney, who could never out duel either division opponent QB. In Kenney’s defense, he was absolutely the best woman to ever play in the NFL. Stabler was a cheater that forced the NFL to put in the “Holy Roller” rule to ban purposely fumbling on fourth down.

Lyle Alzado: Roid Raging psychopath defensive end. Played for the Donks in the 1970s and the Raiders in the 1980s. Dirty and nasty. Would kick and eye poke and punch opponents. Chemically induced like the Incredible Hulk. The steroid abuse eventually killed him.

Bill Romanowski: Another Donk-Raider combo player at linebacker. Another Roid Raging psychopath. Was known to kick downed players in the head, spit in opposing players faces, break opposing players jaws with late hits and also permanently injured a team mate in practice, costing him $350,000 in damages. He was once fined $42,500 for three illegal hits and a punch to the face on Tony Gonzalez in one single game. He was a well known racist, calling Cam Newton “boy” multiple times following a Super Bowl win.

Greg Townsend: Defensive End from Texas Christian. He may have been Texan but he definitely was no Christian. Played for the Raiders in the 1980’s, was suspended twice by the NFL. Once in 1986 for ripping Tim Grundhard’s helmet off and beating him over the head with it; and a second time in 1988 for failing a drug test. He is the Raiders all time sack leader.

Fred Biletnikoff: Wide Receiver from the 1960 AFL days until the 1970s. Another giant cheater, Biletnikoff was famous for lathering down with “Stickum” all over his body. Stickum was an adhesive substance he wore all over his hands, arms and uniform. The practice was outlawed by the NFL in 1981.

Ben Davidson: Defensive end from the AFL days. A castoff from the Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins, he signed as a free agent in 1964 with the Raiders. He was universally tabbed as the dirtiest player in the AFL. A true cheap shot artist. On November 1st 1970, after the AFL-NFL merger, the Chiefs led the Raiders 17–14 late in the fourth quarter. A long run for a first-down by Quarterback Len Dawson apparently sealed victory for the Chiefs in the final minute when Dawson, as he lay on the ground, was speared by Davidson, who dove into Dawson with his helmet at full running speed, provoking Chiefs' receiver Otis Taylor to pull Davidson off Dawson. After a bench-clearing brawl, offsetting penalties were called, nullifying the first down under the rules in effect at that time. The Chiefs were forced to punt, and the Raiders tied the game on a Blanda field goal with eight seconds to play. Davidson's play not only cost the Chiefs a win, but Oakland won the AFC West with a season record of 8–4–2, while Kansas City finished 7–5–2 and out of the playoffs. After the season, the NFL changed its rules regarding personal fouls, separating those called during a play from those called after it. In 1976 the NFL further modified the rules, explicitly calling out a late hit such as Davidson’s as illegal and subject to disqualification.

Al Davis: Owner and evil patriarch of the Raiders for 39 years. Giant douche and pain in the ass to the NFL for many of those years. Was once commissioner of the AFL, then got bent when Lamar Hunt worked with Pete Rozelle to arrange the AFL-NFL merger. Was involved with multiple lawsuits for decades with the league. Looked like Squiggy in Laverne & Shirley. Was a meddling owner with a Napoleonic complex. His only redeeming quality was he took care of a lot of Ex-Raider players after their life in football, and did it without the public’s knowledge.

George, I really wish we could get some kind of a podcast together to put together oral histories of the Royals, Chiefs, and the rivalries and intrigue on both franchises. As much as it paints, I'm sure you could tell the MU side of the MU-KU rivalry as well.

Your post above makes me want to run through a brick wall and I'm a dopey 20 something teacher.

Today's Sports Coverage in the Las Vegas Fish Wrap:

Monday, Dec. 13, 2021 | 2 a.m.
Kansas City, Mo. —

Rich Bisaccia didn’t “have a lot of words” to explain the Raiders’ latest disappointment, a 48-9 defeat to the Chiefs, to media Sunday afternoon at Geha Field at Arrowhead.

Las Vegas’ interim coach apparently had plenty to say his players and staff, however, as his post game address stretched several minutes longer than usual. And he made it sound like the message was stern.

“I told the coaches and players in there that we have to look at ourselves as coaches, the players have to look at themselves as players,” Bisaccia said in his post game news conference.

After the Raiders fell to 6-7 with a second blowout loss to the Chiefs this season, that type of evaluation must happen across the entire organization — starting at the very top. A CBS Sports report from two weeks ago indicated owner Mark Davis was avoiding planning for the future and instead focused solely on the team’s goal to make the playoffs this year.

That’s no longer a luxury he can enjoy with the postseason now amounting to a pipe dream with Las Vegas having lost five of its last six games. The Raiders could still technically reach the playoffs by winning their remaining four games, or potentially even going 3-1, but that’s a tall task against a schedule that doesn’t include a single team with a losing record.

Las Vegas is also in full disarray, having slipped to the bottom of the AFC West standings with a -77 point differential on the year that only beats teams considered the dregs of the conference — Houston, Jacksonville and the New York Jets.

The off season decisions on whether to keep key figures like Bisaccia, general manager Mike Mayock and quarterback Derek Carr are no longer distant in any fashion. They’re vital, as are calls on other personnel all the way down the roster — and who will be making them.

Carr himself hinted he was doing some assessment after the game, one that went beyond the self-variety. He recalled sleepless nights preparing for the Chiefs and heading to his office to digest more film and prepare for the game.

“That is what is expected of me and hopefully everyone looks at it that way and does the same thing,” Carr said. “I know there’s a good majority of our guys who do those things but hopefully everyone is doing it.”

Carr clarified he wasn’t pointing any fingers but also repeatedly used words like “some” and “most” to describe his level of satisfaction with his teammates’ fight and dedication. He didn’t have a good day — throwing for 266 yards on 33-for-45 passing with a touchdown, interception and lost fumble — but felt like he never quit.

Carr spoke similarly about slot receiver Hunter Renfrow, who caught a career-high 13 receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown, when asked. He said there were these types of game that revealed character.

“It lets me know who I can trust,” Carr said. “That’s for sure.”

One Raider whose effort has never been question but upset the Chiefs, if not some of his own teammates, is defensive end Yannick Ngakoue. The Pro Bowl edge rusher drew a swarm of boos about 30 minutes before kickoff when he waved the whole team over for a huddle on top of the Chiefs’ logo at the 50-yard line.

“That’s pretty disrespectful,” Chiefs cornerback Mike Hughes said.

Hughes did something about it, picking up a Josh Jacobs fumble forced by defensive tackle Jarran Reed on the Raiders’ first offensive play and returning it 22 yards for a touchdown. That was the first of five Raiders’ turnovers on the day including on back-to-back drives in the second quarter that helped put the Chiefs up 35-0 inside the first-half’s two-minute warning.

First, Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu intercepted a Carr pass that tight end Foster Moreau bobbled. Then, Renfrow had his lone red mark of the day when Hughes struck again by stripping the ball for a fumble recovered by Mathieu.

“It doesn’t move me,” Mathieu said of the Raiders’ pregame display on the Chiefs’ logo. “I don’t think champions act in that manner.”

Carr appeared to resist Ngakoue’s initial motion to bring the team over, but ultimately vowed to have all of his teammates’ backs. Veteran linebacker K.J. Wright struck a similar tone.

“It was spur of the moment,” Wright said. “One guy said, ‘Let’s go,’ and we’ve all got to ride together. We all went out there together, we did it together as a team and just gave them a little more motivation.”

“I would have been upset too if I was them at anybody who comes here and does that. They definitely came out and responded to their anger. We couldn’t hold up.”

Kansas City continued throwing deep into the second quarter, perhaps later than they would have otherwise if it wasn’t facing a hated rival. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who had been enduing an up-and-down year for his standards, had his second straight big day against the Raiders with 258 yards on 20-for-24 passing with two touchdowns.

Chiefs’ running backs Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Darrel Williams and Derrick Gore combined for four touchdowns and 176 total yards. Kansas City celebrated on the field post game while the speakers played “Wheels on the Bus,” a reference to another point of contention against Las Vegas from when it reportedly took a victory lap after last year’s win at Arrowhead.

“The mood is embarrassed,” Wright said of the locker room. “Just the way we came out, we had a really good week of practice, one of the best we’ve seen. We were dialed in, focused after the loss to Washington, knew we were going to try to make this playoff run. For us to come out and do what we did today, it’s just embarrassing.”

Wright was a veteran part of the contingent of newcomers the Raiders brought in this off season in hopes of reaching the postseason for the first time since 2016 and winning a playoff game for the first time since 2002. That’s an aim that’s all but dissipated after the Chiefs responded to their logo being stepped on by stomping on the Raiders.

Vegas needs to look more than inward to move forward — the organization also needs to put an outward emphasis towards the future.

“We’re all professional coaches and players and we’re all being evaluated by our performance on the field and our actions off the field,” Bisaccia said. “Number one job of a pro player is to protect his job. Number one point to protect your job is your performance on the field so we’ll see what practice looks like this week, take a look at what personnel is and dig deep into what we do.

Great write-up George.

I live in So-Cal, and I can always tell the seasons without a calendar.......

Week 1-2, the Faid jerseys and flags come out.

By week 8-10, they all get packed up for the remainder of the year.

The tears are delicious.

Then about the time the plane flew over Stull, Ks the toilets backed up. Getting clearance for an emergency landing in Dodge City, they are forced to spend the night in the Wyatt Earp motel while a repair crew motors over from Wichita.

I really hate the Raiders.

Get the **** out of Dodge with that. Dodge City is like my back yard even if it's a shitty town I don't want Raidtarts breaking down in my state their plane can crash and burn in another state however.

What an epic epiphany write up.
