What's your opinion on bowl opt outs?

Bowl season used to be a good time to watch NFL prospects for the upcoming draft.

Now it seems like any player with NFL prospects doesn't even play, opting out to avoid the risk of an injury.

Do you agree with this practice? It's now commonplace and accepted.

One aspect that isn't publicized enough is an NFL prospect bailing on their teammates. Imagine going through the program for four, five years, being a senior and then your best player bails. You want to finish your college career with a win.

I know college football coaches are scumbags and these colleges make a killing off these players but it just doesn't seem right to me.

These players chose to play a team sport. They decide to be an individual when it's convenient for them. Why bail at the bowl game? Why don't they put four games of tape on film and bail then? If the NFL and their bank account is what matters, what's the purpose of playing the whole regular season and getting an injury?

**** me culture. Does a team even matter anymore?

Players have every right to opt out. The public has every right to criticize.

The NCAA doesn't have to pay anyone anything. Dont wanna play for tuition, room and board, stipend, free publicity, best facilities and training? Fine dont have to. You signed up to play fully knowing what is in front of you. Your choice. You are free to profit off of your name and likeness now too, as it always should be.

Id be completely fine with Bryce Young sitting out next year. In fact, Id urge him to do it. But sitting out the final game, selfish and quitting on your team. Period.

if you are guaranteed to be a 1st or 2nd round, then it makes sense. Why risk injury right? Maybe even up to 3rd round, like if you are pretty much a guarantee to be drafted no matter what is it going to help your draft stock that much?

Those that think they are on the bubble should play balls to the wall

eh, I think it's pretty ridiculous that they go to great lengths to make sure people can't profit off of their likeness and limited time athletic skills. While there is a coach making millions and millions being made by them. There is a very limited window for them to make money off of their skills, telling them that's not allowed is bullshit.

Another thing is the NBA, it's ****ing stupid that a player that would be a guaranteed 1st pick or lottery pick has to play a year of college. Do you think they are going to give a shit about their 1 year of introductory education?

I do agree there should be no age limit, ever. To go to the NBA or NFL. Quite frankly I dont even understand how it can even be legal. Its actually age discrimination.

I would imagine it doesn't make much of a difference in most cases in football as alot of guys just aren't physically ready. In bball, the NCAA investigation offices HATE the one and done NBA rule. They routinely did investigations and fans would get mad because they took so long but if the other side wont provide you the info needed there isn't anything they can do. They dont have Subpoena power.

The NBA and NFL rule is the biggest discriminatory piece of all this and nobody ever gives them shit. Its just always the NCAAs fault, no matter what.

Jaylon Smith destroys his knee in a non-playoff bowl game… a.k.a. a glorified consolation game and it derailed his eventual NFL career.

Exhibit A for why players should opt out and not risk their health playing in meaningless bowl games.

Any NFL prospects on Kansas or some shitty team should prob just opt out immediately on loss 6 or 7.

How many of you who said it’s fine and understandable that they would opt out, in order to avoid an injury and jeopardizing their careers, were harping on Simone Biles for quitting on her team? Just looking for some consistency.
