Just haven't been playing very well recently

I'm not very good at making detailed assessments of the teams flaws. Others are better at that, and I'm sure they'll be doing so over the next few days here.

My concern is we just look very flat going into the playoffs, which isn't really the norm for the Chiefs in recent years. Reid and the coaching staff seem to "figure it out" midway or late into the season, and our team starts looking solid and cohesive going into the playoffs. This year just doesn't have that feeling. Very bad football teams are making us look bad and work for these wins, and we look very flawed and average.

We're 13-3, but we really don't feel like it. And we've seen this kind of team before around the league. The one with the impressive looking W-L record, but gets it's teeth knocked out in the first round by a team that has a better gameplan and just wants it more. I don't want that to be us, but it's hard to think otherwise when we come out and play like we have. Dunno what else to say.

At least some of those issues will get cleaned up with the increased focus that comes with the heightened intensity.

Just last week they led a playoff contender 24-3 before a garbage time TD.

Which NFL team is consistently dominating opponents?

Two COSTLY turnovers by the offense, a missed assignment (I assume) by Thornhill, and some interesting calls on Williams kept the game unnaturally close. Other than that (and even WITH that), we're fine.

I really think that they just get mentally tired and lose focus for stretches. We're the team everyone wants to beat, so we get their very best every single game-and they still rarely win.

It's got to be exhausting.

Not making an excuse, just saying it's a possible explanation for what seems un-explainable.

It's week 17. The guys are beat up AF. It's professional football and it's hard. FFS, we're 13-3.

Hopefully so. Im mostly concerned about the lack of a pass rush with the down 4 against a good QB, the OT's against speed rushers, the fumbles and the Kicker. Any one of those surface and it could end things. If a few show up, it certainly will.

Cant say "just." Its a legit thing. Our turnover ratio is very bad. Its the same as the bottom feeders.

That should excite the **** out of you. We're winning in spite of crazy turnovers. We're the best offense EVEN WITH the turnovers.

Hey, if you want to take away Pat's aggressiveness, there's not space here to explain how stupid that would actually be.

The fumbles are more recent, that’sa mental and coaching thing that can be addressed. The OT situation CAN be helped with play calling. Hopefully when we get back into opening up the play book that does provide at least enough relief.

The pass rush is what the pass rush is at this point; we are just going to have to continue to mostly rely on timely blitzes. And I’ll say it’s not ALL the d-line’s fault, I mean we had an interception taken away today with a weak hands to the face call while at the exact same time Chris Jones has beaten his man on the edge but being blatantly held by the back of the jersey which, at a minimum should have been offsetting penalties. But, he was held in a similar fashion a play or two later and still no call. He regularly gets abused the way Kelce gets abused with out the refs calling it. But, that’s just the hand we’ve been dealt on the line and we’ve played the hand well enough to be in a position for the 1 seed. So…

The kicker/special teams situation, well, that’s the one that does scare me a bit.

I just hope it is complacency since that Chargers game, I think was the last time they played decent football.

They played fairly well against Seattle.

Yet, they've consistently done it for years, including when they've needed points in the past few games.

If you want a team to run up the score against shit teams in December to capture all the playoff momentums, just look at the Bills in previous seasons and how that worked out.

And if you want playoff success after underwhelming December games, look at several Patriots seasons, the Chiefs barely beating teams like the Falcons a couple seasons ago, etc.

And if you need examples of people crying about all the close scores and major problems before the Chiefs host an AFCCG, look no further than your post history, probably.
