Next weekend schedule [Chiefs/Raiders Sat @ 3:30]
Potential SNF games. It is worth noting they may not release the schedule until after tomorrows MNF.
Packers/Lions. Seems good but if the Seahawks win the Lions are eliminated before playing. Seems risky and potentially very unfair advantage to Packers. Lions would be playing to beat the Packers for pride but by doing so sending the Seahawks to the playoffs whom just knocked them out. Ravens/Bengals. If Bengals lose tomorrow this game is for the division but both teams are already in the playoffs so not huge drama though a potential option. Patriots/Bills. For the Patriots it’s win and your in so it’s got that going for it. If the Bills win tomorrow they still need this game if we win on Saturday. If they lose tomorrow and we win Saturday they can’t get the bye and are playing for seeding. However if it’s SNF in this scenario the Bills would be locked into the 3 seed if the Bengals beat the Ravens earlier in the day. If they lose tomorrow and we lose Saturday they again are playing for seeding and potentially still the bye. If they win tomorrow and we lose Saturday (yuck) they play for nothing the final week. None seem like great options as many other things determine the importance of each one. But should the Bills lose tomorrow I think it sets up Bills/Patriots as the SNF game. Nothing else in the NFC really seems plausible. But a Bills loss means no matter what happens leading up to the game, for the Patriots it’s win and in and for the Bills they could be any of the 1, 2, or 3 seed. A Bills win probably kicks it to the Packers game as I’m not sure it’s that interesting watching two teams (Bengals/Ravens) already in the playoffs no matter what play for seeding. |

So this is interesting. If the Bengals lose tomorrow, as near as I can almost all scenarios (one involving Chargers loss could have Bengals at Jags/Titans not playing Ravens again) have the Bengals playing the Ravens again in the first round of the playoffs. So this game next week between them would determine where that game is played. It’s actually potentially a bigger game than I originally thought and is a prime candidate for SNF if the Bengals lose tomorrow.

Because of the earlier head to head loss vs. Buffalo, Chiefs basically had to win out down the stretch to have a shot at the 1 seed. We were gonna need the ‘W’ either way. Don’t really care whether we get it on Saturday or Sunday. Just go take care of business and leave the rest up to the Bills. Pressure will be on them more than us. They gotta beat the Bengals on the road and the Pats at home, who are trying desperately to hold onto that final playoff spot. And, honestly, if we can’t beat the Faid on Saturday, then we don’t deserve the 1 seed. |

You could also argue the league loves having mahomes in primetime games which is what everyone outside of this fan base thinks anyway.
It really isn't how it should be done though. I get the jags game. But not a game that impacts other games. Ratings over fairness. |

I think the main thing in this decision is that apparently the Saturday games needed to be decided today, so teams could arrange their travel schedules, etc.
So while TEN/JAX might have been better for Sunday night, the NFL won't know the best other game until after tomorrow night's game. So they had to put TEN/JAX on Saturday night, then determine Sunday night after they see who wins BUF/CIN. If Buffalo wins, then BUF/NE looks like the best game. |

So what are all the potential impacts? Hard to keep track.
Who potentially benefits/loses if: BUF wins today, KC wins Sat BUF wins today, KC loses Sat BUF loses today, KC wins Sat BUF loses today, KC loses Sat |

Well shit. Not living in KC anymore for a long time, I don’t get to enough Chiefs games. I’ll be in Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show, and I cleared my Sunday schedule to go to the Chiefs Raiders game. Now that they flexed it to Saturday afternoon, I can’t even watch the game, much less go to it with a full schedule of business meetings Saturday afternoon. **** you NFL.
