Orange County (Angel Stadium) is the more affluent, less gang-affiliated, family-friendly baseball stadium. I'm actually an Angel fan, Lew, originally from Mission Viejo. My parents took me to Angel games growing up because it was a fun safe family friendly type of outing. They wouldn't even CONSIDER taking me to a Dodger game because of the high chance of fistfights, gang violence, robbery, etc. associated with that.

You're inappropriately conflating the two my friend.

Yeah, it's actually pretty impressive how badly they still suck despite having had TWO transcendent talents for a while.

I think there's really only one way to view AP's time in Anaheim.

Disastrous.

Eh, he was still a productive and good hitter (though not at the same level he was in St. Louis) from 2012-2016.

Eh, he was pretty much washed by the end of '15 and fought injuries even in one of those seasons.

Guy signed a 10 year deal that made him among the highest paid players in baseball every season of the deal and gave the Angels 3 truly good seasons over that span.

For him to do what he did in 2022 in a part-time role in STL after 6-7 years of truly awful baseball tells me that it wasn't just an age issue - it was an Anaheim issue as well.

There's really nothing positive to say about that contract if you're an Angels fan.

I think his production in Anaheim turns out differently if he had switched to DH sooner full-time (his foot problems in Anaheim started in 2013- he didn't start DHing pretty much full-time until 2017). I think he would've had a similar decline in St. Louis if he had played the field extensively.

I also forgot Josh Hamilton was an Angel before relapsing.

He had feet problems as far back as 2004, IIRC.

I was actually surprised the Cardinals were as aggressive as they were in trying to sign him in 2012. I just didn't see any way he could stay in the field into his mid 30s. His lower half was a problem for years.

Not as impressive as your complete ignorance about how the sport of baseball works, Mr. Turtle.

Hot take:

The 2014 Royals' greatest accomplishment was snuffing out the best hope Mike Trout ever had at winning anything worth a shit in the postseason.

hotter take: real baseball fans don't care as much about a contrived postseason tournament as you think. It doesn't crown a champion at all. The course of a 162 game regular season does that. The baseball playoffs are meaningless to me as an Angels fan and a fan of baseball as its played in the US. I don't care about the donkament. The donkament has different rules that don't apply to regular games of baseball, such as in the donkament, you get so many off-days, you only need two starting pitchers. That's not baseball. In baseball, you need a 5-man rotation at minimum (the Angels, to accommodate Ohtani, use a 6-man rotation).

You're the one that focuses so much on donkaments. It's fine for football but it doesn't fit baseball at all. I don't even watch the baseball postseason. When the fantasy baseball season ends, so does baseball to your boy VK.
