If they really walk on Reid and Bolton this defense is going to take a massive step back.

Yeah, Hicks and Cook is not a tandem anyone should want for next season. Cook is too slow as a coverage safety. They'll have to make a move in free agency unless they want a rookie to start alongside Hicks, provided they draft a safety that is.

The other option is to move Connor to safety but he hasn't played there in the NFL yet.

What other safety can they sign in free agency that is average at worst but will make less money than Reid?

Bolton will be even harder to replace because we're thin at LB. Who plays at MLB if Bolton is gone? Cochrane? Move Chanel or Tranquill to MLB?

If they move on from Bolton, my feeling is they’ll probably move Tranquill there and draft a young guy for Tranquill’s spot. But what do I know?

I'm fine with letting Bolton and Reid walk if the dollars are going to be reallocated to the offense. It's been awesome having a great D, but I'm tired of watching the best QB in the history of the world run for his life and throw to Justin Watson all day.

I still think Bolton won't have the market he's anticipating, and they'll hang on to him.

**** sake. If he signs a $10m per year contract somewhere else I'll be quite disappointed we didn't match it. Clever player, good positionally and hard hitting...an unsung hero in the Spags defense. I feel he's underrated a lot because of the lack of picks but he ticks most other boxes in the DB checklist.

We would get fisted with Tranquill at MLB. That's a big downgrade from Bolton. Unlike with Hicks, that isn't a viable replacement.

This is kinda where I'm at.

It's unpopular but I'd let Bolton go before Reid. There's not a lot of market these days for MLB's that can't cover.
