MJ Rice has Andrew White and Quentin Grimes written all over imo.

Those guys underwhelmed at Kansas. Grimes was pretty good at times, but never lived up to the hype. White could barely get on the court.

Both became great college players. Rice has a similar upside to him.

Better luck and more PT in the non-con will go a long way. The conference was too strong for him to get much of a chance to develop with real experience.

Hopefully, he sees that and Self is in his ear about it.

I assume Self will target a third point guard.

Jalen Cone might make some sense. I think he’s a little turnover prone and not much of a defender, but he can really shoot. Career 38% from 3 on 7 attempts per game. Shot 40% from 3 on 7 attempts per game last season. His worst season was 34%. 85% on free throws too.

If he plays in a reserve role or next to Harris, we don’t need him to be a main distributor or defender. He’s really small though.

He did suck. But let's be real here. It sucks that he sucked. If he could have developed into a competent big with a shot, he'd have been extraordinarily valuable in a Self offense. He had the shot down, competency was his problem.

Makes me wonder how bad MJ Rice was in practice, because just looking at them in high school, Rice looked much better than Pettiford.

But, if Rice couldn't take time away from Pettiford, I feel surprised that he isn't entering the portal too, because if he couldn't get minutes over Pettiford, how is he going to get minutes over the incoming Freshmen guards, who are better than Pettiford.

Elmarko Jackson looks like the next great Kansas point, but he’s still only going to be a freshman. A ball handler with experience would be a huge get.

I meant a reserve point to back up Harris. I assume Jackson will start beside Harris, but having a third option would be ideal since you never know with Jackson.
